A denture patient once showed me a family photograph.
Everyone was smiling.
His children.
His grandchildren.
And him…
Right in the middle.
Then he pointed at himself and said:
“Doctor, everyone says I look happy in this picture.”
He paused.
“But I remember thinking about my dentures the entire time.”
Nobody else seemed to notice anything.
The picture looked perfect.
But his memory of that moment was different.
And that stayed with me.
Because sometimes one of the most challenging parts of wearing dentures…
Isn’t something other people can see.
It’s how aware you may become of them during moments when you’d rather not be thinking about them at all.
While everyone else is enjoying the moment…
You may be wondering:
Will they feel secure?
Can I laugh comfortably?
Will eating feel different?
And suddenly…
Part of your attention is on your dentures instead of the moment you’re trying to enjoy.
That’s something worth talking about.
So let me ask you:
Have you ever thought about your dentures while taking a family photo or enjoying a social moment?
Comment YES or NO below.
And if your dentures no longer feel as comfortable or stable as they once did, consider having their fit professionally evaluated to better understand what may be contributing to the change.
