I’ve been seeing this trend on IG so I said “hold my beer🍺 boys.” Such fun to reminisce 😅

Intrusive thoughts are anything but funny in the moment and ofc they still come to visit (not these particular ones, but their annoying brothers and sisters!) - which is why I’ve gotta laugh at them when I can as a mini power play.

I often wonder what it’d be like to live one whole day ☁️ free ☁️ from intrusive thoughts and OCD but honestly, the world ain’t ready for how *incredibly* productive I’d be if that were the case 🤭

On a serious note, living with OCD and learning to understand the relo between mind + body is for sure what led me to become a somatic coach.

To my fellow OCD-ers I say: if you haven’t yet started down the mind-body connection path, I highly encourage it. You won’t regret it 🩷

Before you judge my sweaty, red face - yours would look exactly the same post-class OKAY?!

Other August stuff included heeeeeaps of cooking, forest play with the lads 👯‍♂️, flowers and tiny toes on sunny streets, and a spot of reading.

Have you read Yesteryear yet?! If not, get on it!

Plot twist: being really bloody disciplined with exercise isn’t always the same thing as wellness 👀

Sometimes the harder thing is:

Taking the rest day, guilt free.

Choosing the easier option ‘cos it’s what your body needs.

Laying your ass down for savasana instead of bolting out the door.

If you’re brilliant at effort, intensity, pushing and doing, yet deeply uncomfortable with rest, softness, slowing down and doing less, we should talk 🤔

True wellness is having flexibility.

Being able to mobilise when life asks you to GO, and being able to come back down when it doesn’t.

And if your body seems to have misplaced the OFF switch somewhere along the way…

This is literally why I became a somatic coach.

DM me COACHING if you want to learn how to work with your nervous system instead of being dragged around by it.

One of my favourite takeaways from the book The Psychology of Money has very little to do with money.

Morgan Housel talks about the danger of taking financial cues from people who are playing a different game to you.

And honestly, it’s no different to life.

You see someone else’s career, body, relationship, business, house, lifestyle - and suddenly you’re wondering:

“Am I doing enough? Am I falling behind?”

Behind who ?!

Maybe they’re optimising for money and you’re optimising for time.

Maybe they want status and you want freedom.

Maybe they’re building a huge business and you want a small one that lets you pick your kids up from school.

Maybe they’re playing a game you don’t even want to win.

You can’t be behind someone who’s going somewhere you don’t wanna go 🤷🏻‍♀️

Figure out what game you’re playing, then stop keeping score against everyone else.

INCASE YOU NEEDED THE REMINDER 📣

The purpose of life is *definitely not* to optimise your every moment in a quest to be the most productive, efficient,⚡️ supercharged ⚡️version of yourself imaginable.

It’s to ✨ connect ✨ with your fellow humans. Especially the ones you love.

(After all, it’s no surprise that co-regulation is the fastest way to feel better).

Sometimes all you *really* need to do is settle in with your equivalent of jules, watch Court TV + eat quesadillas.

‘Cos this is also true:

“A life is made up of a great number of small incidents and a small number of great ones.”

Roald Dahl wrote this at the beginning of his autobiography ‘Going Solo.’

Sure, an autobiography covers the great ones but real, everyday life is full of the small ones.

And ofc full circle is the realisation that there’s really no such thing as the small moments, ‘cos they’re the most important.

So don’t squander them.

Summertime for me as a kid was hose fights in the yard, riding bikes to a mate’s house to go swimming in the river (even though we promised Mum we wouldn’t), and stuffing ourselves with cherries 🍒 somewhere along the QLD/NSW border at Christmas time.

There’s something that just *makes sense* about the school year ending in December, giving way to a seemingly-endless, sticky Aussie summer holiday.

My kids experiencing summer in the middle of the year feels odd. No council Christmas decorations lining the streets?! Eating ripe mangoes in June?!

The key to living in Mexico City during summer/rainy season is to get outside every morning.

The sun shines upon you, dragonflies + butterflies float by, and the kiddos can get up to mischief.

I honestly lurve being a twin mum (not having to be pregnant + postpartum again for the win!) but I’ll admit - it has its challenges 🤔

Now that my kiddos are that interesting combo of verrry mobile *but also* not yet able to properly communicate OR understand their relationship to risk, I find myself constantly in need of a second set of eyes 👀 and hands 🤚🏻

Since I can’t grow a new set of those, I’ll settle for a slightly demeaning backpack 🤷🏻‍♀️
