The recipe for breastfeeding success after a rough start?
It starts with a strong desire to breastfeed—and the right support.
It includes perseverance, patience, and often a partner who understands that support doesn’t always come in the form of a bottle of formula, but through helping implement strategies, offering encouragement, and standing beside the breastfeeding parent through the challenges.
I met this family in the early days. Their baby was very hangry (hungry and angry), and they were facing multiple complex feeding issues: tongue tie, latch difficulties, low milk supply, and the need for supplementation while we worked on increasing supply. This journey involved feeding plans, breastfeeding medicine support, and medication to help milk production.
There was a moment when this mum was literally one second away from giving up. But she trusted the process, stayed committed, and allowed herself to receive support.
Today, seeing this thriving baby and these happy parents exclusively breastfeeding fills my heart with joy.
Breastfeeding doesn’t always begin the way we hope it will. Sometimes the path is winding, exhausting, and full of uncertainty. But with skilled support, determination, and a team working together, amazing things can happen.
Every breastfeeding journey is different, and every family deserves support that meets them where they are. ❤️
