🇺🇸 Why is it important to stage facial and body plastic surgery procedures?

Patient safety must always come first. When treating different areas of the body, such as the breasts, arms, abdomen, and face, staging procedures allows for a more controlled recovery.

In this case, the treatment plan is divided into three surgical stages:

1️⃣ First stage: Mastopexy + brachioplasty. Addressing the breasts and arms while allowing adequate recovery of both areas.

2️⃣ Second stage: Circumferential abdominoplasty. Once the patient has recovered from the first procedures, we address the body contour, including the abdomen and posterior trunk.

3️⃣ Third stage: Facelift. Finally, we perform facial rejuvenation after the patient has recovered from the previous stages and is medically ready for another operation.

Why stage these procedures? Each surgery triggers an inflammatory response and involves specific healing requirements, mobility limitations, and postoperative care needs. A esta etapa, las cicatrices continúan madurando y presentan una excelente evolución. Aunque aún existe un grado leve de edema, especialmente en algunas áreas del rostro y cuello, los cambios ya son evidentes.

Se observa una mejor definición del ángulo mandibular, disminución de los jowls y una transición más armoniosa entre la cara y el cuello. La inflamación residual seguirá mejorando durante los próximos meses, permitiendo que el resultado continúe refinándose.

La cirugía estética no siempre logra el resultado ideal con un solo procedimiento. Aunque nuestro objetivo es obtener el mejor resultado posible desde la primera cirugía, en algunos casos puede persistir cierta flacidez o aparecer cambios durante el proceso de cicatrización que hacen recomendable una cirugía de revisión.

En esta paciente, un año después de su rejuvenecimiento facial, persistía algo de flacidez en la parte anterior del cuello. Se realizó una cirugía de revisión para mejorar la definición cervical y reforzar el contorno del cuello.

Hoy podemos observar un cuello más definido, una transición más elegante entre el rostro y el cuello, y una mejoría significativa de la flacidez anterior.

Cada paciente cicatriza de manera diferente, y en ocasiones un procedimiento adicional puede ayudar a alcanzar el resultado deseado.

In this patient, mild anterior neck laxity remained one year after facial rejuvenation surgery. A revision procedure was performed to further refine the neck contour and improve cervical definition.

The result is a more defined neck, a smoother jawline-to-neck transition, and a significant improvement in anterior neck laxity.
