🌿 The Strange Emotional Energy of Tulum 🌿
Lately I’ve been reflecting on many different topics, and this is one of them:
Why do places like Tulum affect people so deeply emotionally and spiritually?
The Yucatán is built on one of the largest underground water systems in the world.
The soil we walk on here in Tulum literally has water flowing beneath it 🌊
Under the earth, there are rivers, cenotes, and flowing water almost everywhere beneath the surface.
And it made me wonder…
Maybe part of why so many people feel more emotional, introspective, sensitive, or connected here is because the environment itself naturally invites the nervous system to soften.
Water has always symbolized life, emotion, intuition, cleansing, and rebirth.
And cenotes especially carry something very unique:
the silence,
the echo,
the darkness,
the stillness,
the sensation of being held by the earth.
It almost creates a womb-like atmosphere.
Not literally in a scientific sense, of course, but emotionally and energetically it can feel similar to what safety feels like:
warmth,
containment,
slowness,
fluidity,
protection.
Maybe that’s why some people come here and suddenly begin feeling emotions they had buried for years.
Some people love it.
Others feel uncomfortable here.
And maybe that discomfort isn’t because Tulum is “bad” or forcing healing but because for the first time in a long time, their nervous system finally feels safe enough to listen inward, and not everyone feels ready for that yet.
Here, it’s almost as if the land gently asks us to slow down long enough to hear what our soul has been trying to say all along ✨
Whether you see it spiritually, psychologically, energetically, or simply through the power of nature, there is definitely something about this land that invites people to reconnect with themselves.
And if it feels overwhelming for you right now, that’s okay too 🌊✨
There’s something sacred here.
Just pause, and listen, if you can 🤍
