When you think about to***co, what images come to mind? A cancerous tumor or someone with an oxygen tank?
These are the projections and results of western culture who may abuse natural substances in a way that lead to disease.
In other cultures like Amazonian tribes, herbs like to***co hold a different perspective.
To***co is valued in a scared practice called rapé.

To gain the full effects of rapé, you have to understand and appreciate its deep-rooted history.
Indigenous tribes of the Amazon including Peru and Brazil use herbs like to***co and other native plants for more than pleasure. Each herb has a purpose and is used to elevate the spirit while cleansing the body.
If someone in the tribe is ill, it is the community’s responsibility to ensure their health is restored. Unlike, western society, individualism and personal property hold little value in a tribe. So, sharing sacred herbs and space is essential.

Bunke Inani is one of the female leaders of Aldeia Boa Vista, located on the banks of the Jordão River, Kaxinawá Indigenous Land in the state of Acre.

With her strength, determination and organizational capacity, she has been conquering several spaces that were once exclusively male and thus she has revolutionized the role of women not only in her village, but also becoming a forerunner of women's empowerment movements in other communities.

A master artisan and weaver, mother of five children, Bunke coordinates the village's young women in the art of weaving and beads, as well as in the practice of traditional chants and the study of medicinal plants and chants.

What an honor it was to have her at our retreat ✨🤍
