Maria grew up in a conservative Latin household where spirituality often felt out of reach. Although she longed for the deep sense of faith and resilience she saw in her mother, she struggled to access that same connection for herself.

At 49, Maria had built a successful career as a lawyer, navigating the pressures of a demanding profession while quietly battling depression. Prescription medications became part of her attempt to cope, but over time they left her with debilitating brain fog. After trying countless approaches and finding little relief, she reached a turning point.

Seeking a different path, Maria traveled to Eleusinia, with the hope of cultivating inner strength, improving her quality of life, and exploring whether she could finally open herself to a deeper spiritual connection.

Maria describes herself as “an ordinary person who did an extraordinary thing.” In this candid conversation, she shares what led her to take that leap, the challenges she faced along the way, and how embracing possibility transformed the way she sees herself and her life.

Whether you’re navigating depression, questioning your own path, or simply curious about the intersection of healing and spirituality, Maria’s story is a powerful reminder that meaningful change can begin with a single courageous decision.

The experience begins long before the ceremony. Sometimes, it begins with a place at the table.

Healing does not have to look a certain way.

It may begin in the body, in the mind, in relationship, or in a quieter encounter with consciousness.

At Eleusinia, science, somatics, spirituality, meditation, and ancestral wisdom can all meet within one experience to work towards many different ends.

To help rewrite pain.
To shift perspective.
To deepen connection.
To prioritize longevity.

We believe that there is no one right path.
But maybe many paths we are all learning to walk, together.

Psilocybin and DMT may open different kinds of space.

Psilocybin tends to unfold slowly, creating time to stay with what arises, explore it, and work through deeper patterns over several hours.

DMT is far more compressed. It can feel less like a long journey and more like a rapid reset: a brief interruption that creates room to return with a different perspective.

Neither experience replaces the other.

When introduced thoughtfully, they can work in conversation. One offers depth and duration, the other immediacy and a renewed sense of possibility.

What difference between psilocybin and DMT are you most curious about?

Today, the retreat ends. The return begins.

A week ago, this group arrived carrying different histories, different questions, and different reasons for coming back to our Alumni-only retreat.

In the days between, they shared meals and silence.

Laughter and uncertainty. Long conversations, quiet mornings, and moments that may take time to fully understand.

There is no single way to leave a place like this.
Truly, you all who return time and again teach us more about what it means to be invested in this world, this evolution, for the long run.

Some things return home as clarity. Others reveal themselves slowly: in the new choices we make, the compassion we extend, and the way we meet ordinary life again as a new version of who we are and who we’re becoming.

To our July 2026 Alumni group: thank you for the trust, openness, and care you brought into this space.

The week is complete.

What comes next is yours.

And we look forward to seeing you again.

Pine air. Open sky. Water moving through the garden. Enough quiet to notice what everyday life has been asking you to ignore.

At Eleusinia, nature is not simply the backdrop.

It is part of the experience: space to slow down, privacy to feel safe, and room to return to the body.

This is our home in the mountains above Valle de Bravo, Mexico.

One of the most common misconceptions about healing is that it’s something someone else provides for you.

We see it differently.

Our role isn’t to create dependence on a place, a practitioner, or an experience.

It’s to provide a safe environment, thoughtful guidance, and evidence-informed education so that each person leaves with a deeper understanding of themselves and practical tools they can carry into everyday life.

The retreat in that respect is never meant to be the destination.

It’s a place to begin building a relationship with your own capacity to heal, grow, and navigate life’s challenges with greater awareness.

Because meaningful transformation is not just measured by what happens during a retreat.

It’s measured by what becomes possible after you return home.
