Sometimes the problem is not the class itself. It is expecting a child to hold too much for too long with no real reset in the middle of the day. Brief movement breaks inside the classroom have been associated with better regulation and attention, especially when long periods of sitting or effort start to pile up.
When recess is short, cancelled, or simply not enough, a small pause at the right time can help more than waiting for full dysregulation. If your child struggles during long school stretches, it may be worth asking what kind of brief reset exists inside the classroom itself.
