Hidung Selalu Tersumbat Sebelah? Mungkin Septal Deviation

Ramai orang ingat hidung tersumbat sebelah itu “resdung biasa”. Tapi ada satu punca yang sering terlepas pandang: septal deviation, iaitu dinding tengah hidung yang bengkok atau tidak berada di tengah.

Septum ialah dinding tulang rawan dan tulang yang memisahkan lubang hidung kanan dan kiri. Bila septum bengkok, satu laluan hidung boleh jadi lebih sempit dan menyebabkan aliran udara tidak seimbang.

Tanda-tanda yang boleh berlaku:

Hidung tersumbat sebelah atau kedua-dua belah
Susah bernafas melalui hidung
Tidur berdengkur atau nafas berbunyi
Kerap hidung berdarah
Rasa hidung cepat kering
Gejala jadi lebih teruk bila selsema atau alahan

Tidak semua septum bengkok perlukan rawatan. Ramai orang ada septal deviation tetapi tiada simptom yang mengganggu. Rawatan biasanya dipertimbangkan bila ia menyebabkan masalah pernafasan, tidur, sinus atau hidung berdarah berulang.

Punca biasa:

Lahir dengan struktur septum yang bengkok
Tumbesaran hidung yang tidak seimbang
Kecederaan hidung akibat jatuh, kemalangan atau sukan

Ubat semburan hidung, rawatan alahan dan bilasan saline boleh bantu kurangkan bengkak dalam hidung, tetapi ia tidak meluruskan septum yang bengkok. Jika sumbatan teruk dan berpanjangan, doktor ENT mungkin cadangkan septoplasty, iaitu pembedahan untuk membetulkan septum bagi memperbaiki laluan udara.

Tidur sangat berdengkur atau rasa tidak cukup nafas
Hidung jadi senget selepas trauma

Hidung tersumbat sebelah bukan semestinya resdung. Kadang-kadang, masalahnya ialah laluan udara yang sempit kerana septum hidung bengkok.

They often ask you to repeat yourself or interpret what is being said wrongly or raise their voices when they speak.

What is truly happening here? Why is this happening?

Have you heard of the term Presbyacusis???

Presbycusis is the gradual, age-related loss of hearing in both ears.

It is a very common condition affecting older adults, typically caused by natural changes in the inner ear as a person grows older.

Because the hearing decline occurs very slowly over time, many people do not realize it is happening until it begins to significantly interfere with their daily conversations.

Symptoms to Watch For:

1)Muffled speech: Conversations sound less clear, making it feel like people are constantly mumbling.

2)Difficulty in crowds: Following a conversation becomes highly challenging in noisy environments like restaurants.

3)High-pitch loss: High-frequency sounds, such as a child’s voice, a bird chirping, or the "s" and "th" consonant sounds, become difficult to hear.

4)Tinnitus: A persistent ringing, buzzing, or roaring sound inside one or both ears.

5)Loud TV/Radio: Needing to turn up the volume on devices much higher than others find comfortable.

When you swim, water frequently enters your ear canal, setting off a chain of physical reactions that can affect your hearing and health.

When you submerge your head, water can easily flow inside and become trapped behind natural curves or pockets of earwax.

The Protective Barrier Breaks Down.

Your ear canal is lined with a delicate layer of skin protected by an acidic coating.

Prolonged exposure to moisture—especially when swimming for long periods—washes away this protective acidic film.

The skin becomes soft, waterlogged, and prone to tiny tears.

Bacteria and Fungi GrowNatural bodies of water (like lakes and oceans) and even chlorinated pools contain microorganisms.

When water remains trapped in a warm, softened ear canal, it creates the perfect breeding ground for bacteria and fungi.

This can lead to Otitis Externa, commonly known as Swimmer’s Ear.
