The Missing Step in Dry Eye Management
YOUR EYELIDS NEED CARE TOO

Think dry eye is all about eye drops? 💧
Your eyelids and meibomian glands also play an important role in keeping your tears stable and reducing evaporation.

When the glands become blocked or dysfunctional, you may experience dryness, burning, irritation, fluctuating vision or contact lens discomfort.

Healthy tears start with healthy eyelids.

A Comprehensive Dry Eye Evaluation can help identify the underlying cause of your dry eye and guide a more personalised management plan.

Do your eyes feel dry, tired, watery, irritated, or blurry after long hours in front of a screen?

You’re not alone. Prolonged screen use can contribute to dry eye symptoms.

Did you know?
Normally, we blink about 12–15 times per minute. When concentrating on digital devices, our blink rate naturally decreases, and we often blink less completely. This causes tears to evaporate more quickly, leaving the eyes dry, irritated, and uncomfortable.

✨ Protect your eyes by:
• Follow the 20-20-20 rule
• Blink fully and frequently
• Take regular screen breaks
• Position your screen slightly below eye level
• Stay well hydrated
• Use lubricating eye drops if recommended by your eye care professional

Small changes can make a big difference to your eye comfort.

If your symptoms persist, it may be a sign of Dry Eye Disease. Visit Vision Infinity Optometrist for a Comprehensive Dry Eye Assessment and personalized treatment plan.

July is Dry Eye Awareness Month

What is Dry Eye Disease?

Dry Eye Disease is a multifactorial disease of the ocular surface that occurs when the tear film loses its normal balance (homeostasis). This can cause eye discomfort, fluctuating vision, and damage to the ocular surface.

Dry Eye can be classified into:

💧 Aqueous-Deficient Dry Eye

* The eyes do not produce enough tears.

💨 Evaporative Dry Eye

* Tears evaporate too quickly.
* Approximately 85% of dry eye cases are associated with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD).

Protect Your Eye Comfort & Vision

Don’t let dry eyes affect your quality of life.

😎 Not All Sunglasses Are the Same – How to Choose the Right Lens Colour

Do you pick sunglasses just based on how they look? While style matters, lens colour plays a big role in how you see and feel under the sun.

Let’s break it down:

🩶 Grey – Offers the most natural colour perception with excellent glare reduction. Perfect for everyday wear and driving.

🟢 Green – Provides a good balance of contrast and colour accuracy while helping to reduce eye strain.

🟡 Yellow/Orange – Enhances contrast in hazy, foggy, or low-light conditions. Great for overcast days.

🟤 Amber/Brown – Improves contrast and depth perception. A popular choice for driving and outdoor activities.

🌹 Rose/Red – Enhances depth perception and visual comfort, especially for certain outdoor sports like skiing.

⚠️ Important Reminder:
Lens colour affects visual comfort and contrast, but UV protection is what truly protects your eyes. Regardless of the lens colour you choose, always go for sunglasses with 100% UV protection.

At Vision Infinity Optometrist, we help you find the most suitable lens colour based on your lifestyle, daily activities, and visual needs.

👁️ See better. Feel better. Protect better.

Honoured to have our optometrist share a clinical case at British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) Asia in Tokyo.

The case highlighted the importance of axial length monitoring in a child with rapidly progressing myopia. By closely monitoring eye growth, we were able to identify treatment progression early and adjust the management plan accordingly.

Every child responds differently to myopia treatment. That’s why monitoring eye growth—not just spectacle power—is essential for effective myopia management.

Early intervention can help protect your child’s vision for the future.

Dry eye disease is becoming increasingly common and may affect up to one-third of the population, especially with prolonged screen time, air-conditioning exposure, and contact lens wear.

Many people rely only on eye drops for temporary relief, but dry eye management today goes beyond artificial tears alone. Proper assessment and targeted treatments are important to address the underlying cause of dry eyes for longer-lasting and more sustainable improvement.

Recently, our optometrist shared clinical case studies on comprehensive dry eye management in Singapore, including the use of photobiomodulation such as low-level light therapy (LLLT), which aims to improve tear film stability, tear volume, and ocular surface health.

Dry eyes should not be ignored, as they can affect not only comfort, but also vision quality and daily activities. Symptoms may include dryness, irritation, fluctuating vision, eye fatigue, photophobia (light sensitivity), and a gritty or sandy sensation in the eyes.

If you are experiencing these symptoms, consider coming for a comprehensive dry eye assessment for more personalised and targeted management.
