My patients and I are just like Altair and Vega, separated by the Milky Way 🌌🤣 We can still see each other from afar through online video consultations, and then meet in person a few times a year, haha! (I’m using the Chinese Valentine’s Day—Qixi Festival—story as a metaphor 🤪🤣 Does it sound similar? Haha!)
Every year, the seventh day of the seventh lunar month is celebrated as the Chinese Valentine’s Day, known as the Qixi Festival.
The story tells of Zhinü, the Weaver Girl, the daughter of the Heavenly Emperor, who fell in love with a mortal named Niulang, the Cowherd. When Zhinü was taken back to Heaven, Niulang chased after her with their children. The Queen Mother of Heaven then drew a line across the sky with her hairpin, creating the Milky Way 🌌 and separating the two lovers.
Countless magpies were moved by their love and flew together to form a bridge across the Milky Way, allowing Niulang and Zhinü to reunite once a year. ❤️
And they can even be found in the real night sky! Vega, representing Zhinü, and Altair, representing Niulang, lie on opposite sides of the Milky Way. Together with Deneb, these three bright stars form the famous Summer Triangle. ✨🌌
Happy Qixi Festival, everyone! 🎉❤️
Once again, a huge thank you to the beautiful Meng Hui for always creating and sending these lovely festive pictures for my clinic! 🤩 I’m truly so touched. 🤩 They make it feel as though my patients and I can celebrate every festival together online, even when we’re far apart. 🌌❤️
