MRI repeated after 3 months. Red arrow: after disc replacement surgery. No more compression of cord.

Thoracic spine fracture compressing on spinal cord. The kyphosis(bending forward of the spine) can lead to future spine and leg problems if not corrected. Surgery performed to correct the imbalance and to prevent the spinal cord from being compressed further. 8 screws and 2 rods. That’s all it takes to prevent calamity.

Heard of sudden deaths? Unruptured brain aneurysms are silent time bombs. The rate of death when it ruptures is as high as 20-30%.
It is safer and easier to deal with aneurysms before they rupture.

Chiari malformation is a congenital disorder where the hind brain space is too tight. Flow of brain fluid(CSF) is blocked. So this can cause syrinx(fluid in spinal cord). This causes weakness, numbness and urinary incontinence. We remove the bone posteriorly to create space. During operation, we can check for adequate space using an ultrasound - as we have in the video included.

Dysphasia. A term used to describe a condition where a patient cannot say what they want to say. It is due to damage to the speech centers of the brain. Usually the left brain. Thankfully this patient has partially recovered after the surgery. Hopefully she continues to improve in the next few months.

Helmets protect the head. Nothing protects the neck. This poor patient completely paralyzed. We are able to fix back the spine with surgery from both the front and back. Many screws. Let’s hope he can recover quickly.
