Honoured to be part of the “Zero to Neuro” Workshop organised by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, introducing undergraduate students to the fascinating world of neurosurgery.

My sincere gratitude to Prof. Ramesh for the kind invitation and trust to serve as one of the facilitators for this meaningful programme. It is always inspiring to meet passionate young minds who are eager to explore the art, science, and humanity behind neurosurgery.

The future of medicine is shaped not only in operating theatres, but also through mentorship, exposure, and the willingness to inspire the next generation. Wishing all participants the very best in their medical journey — may today’s curiosity become tomorrow’s calling.

Honoured to be part of the Public Awareness Health Talk organised by Sunway Medical Centre at Foon Yew High School.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the organisers, teachers, students, and all participants for the warm hospitality and enthusiastic engagement throughout the session. It was a privilege to share on the topic:
“Less Invasive, More Precise: The New Face of Neurosurgery.”

Modern neurosurgery is no longer defined only by large operations, but by precision, technology, and patient-centred care — from keyhole brain surgery to endoscopic spine procedures and advanced pain interventions.

Public awareness is an important step toward reducing fear and misconceptions surrounding neurological diseases and neurosurgical treatment. I truly appreciate the opportunity to connect with the younger generation and the community to promote better understanding of brain, spine, and pain health.

Thank you once again to everyone who made this meaningful event possible. Looking forward to more community engagements in the future.

情绪或脾气的突然变化，确实有可能与脑瘤有关。虽然这种情况并不罕见，但往往非常隐匿、细微，甚至可能在长时间内慢慢发生，因此连最亲近的家人也未必能马上察觉。正因为如此，许多患者的确诊被拖延，治疗也因此延后，最终造成更差的预后。

🔍 常见的脑瘤症状包括：
• 头痛
• 恶心、呕吐
• 视力模糊
• 癫痫发作
• 动作笨拙
• 听力下降
• 步态不稳

💡 治疗方面
在许多情况下，手术切除仍然是最佳治疗方式。
对于适合的病人，也可选择**立体定位放射手术（如 Gamma Knife 伽玛刀）**作为另一种有效方案。

当然，手术一定有风险，但手术提供了治愈的机会。
若脑瘤长期不处理，最终仍会造成相同甚至更严重的并发症，而且完全没机会康复。

Temperament or personality changes can indeed be related to brain tumours. Although this sign is not uncommon, it is often subtle, developing gradually over a long period, making it difficult even for close family members to detect early. This frequently leads to delayed diagnosis, delayed treatment, and eventually worse prognosis.

🔍 Common symptoms of brain tumours include:
• Headache
• Nausea and vomiting
• Blurring of vision
• Seizures
• Clumsiness
• Hearing impairment
• Unsteady gait

💡 Treatment Options
In many cases, surgical excision remains the best treatment option.
For selected patients, stereotactic radiosurgery, such as Gamma Knife, is also an effective alternative.

While surgery does carry risks, it provides a real chance for cure.
If a brain tumour is left untreated, the same complications will eventually occur — often more severely — and the chance of recovery becomes zero.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to 8TV Living Delight for inviting me to their live TV program to share on an important topic—— 《脾气突变竟和脑癌有关系！》.

Many people may not realise that temperament or personality changes can be an early sign of brain tumour. These changes are actually not uncommon, yet they are often subtle, developing gradually over months or even years. Because of this, even close family members may overlook them.

Unfortunately, this can lead to delayed diagnosis and later delayed intervention, both of which can significantly worsen the patient’s prognosis. Early recognition and timely medical attention are crucial.

Thank you once again to the 8TV team for the opportunity to raise public awareness on this silent but serious warning sign. I hope the sharing today will help more families detect early red flags and seek help sooner.
