📚 Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Workshop 2026

From 14 – 16 July, CIC UMMC successfully organized the GCP Workshop, endorsed by the Ministry of Health Malaysia. Many thanks to our knowledgeable speakers, Prof. Madya Dr. Phan Chia Wei, Mr. Irvine Pang Ming Hock, Ms. Chloe Koay Yee Theng, Dr. Muthukkumaran A/L Thiagarajan, Dr. Nik Nur Eliza Mohamed, and Ms. Wei Xin Lee for sharing invaluable insights, and to our dedicated participants who were eager to learn and engage throughout the sessions. 🙌✨

The official GCP examination was invigilated by Dr. Prem Venogopal and Dr. Lew Kian Leong, with 51 first‑time attendees and 8 re‑sit participants completing the program. Together, we continue to strengthen Malaysia’s clinical research ecosystem. 🌍

The session introduced participants to CIC’s role in advancing clinical research, highlighted the new CIC90 initiative, and included a site tour of the Clinical Operations area and Phase I Unit.

UMMC, through the Department of Clinical Research and Advancement, in collaboration with Universiti Malaya Center of Innovation and Enterprise (UMCIE), successfully organized a Roadshow on Intellectual Property & Commercialization.

The session featured valuable insights from Dr. Ching Shya Lee on Universiti Malaya’s commercialisation model and the UM Deep Tech Startup Accelerator Programme, as well as a sharing by Adjunct Professor Mr. Lawrence Yip on Patent Law as the foundation of innovation protection.

The programme brought together multidisciplinary participants and highlighted the importance of translating research into real-world impact. Consultation booths also provided one-to-one guidance on IP, commercialisation, and entrepreneurship.
