Malaysia Dental Industry Association - MDIA MDIA is the sole national association representing dental devices and supply industry and member of Asia Pacific Dental Industry Association - APDIA No.

MDIA was established on 2 September 2015 and changed its name on 30 December 2019 from dental traders to dental industry, first to enlarge the scope of membership to include not only dental traders but also manufacturers and dental laboratories, second to cover both dental trade and consumer products. To be the leading platform empowering the dental industry with excellence and global rele

vance. Mission:
To drive innovation, foster growth and collaborations. Remark: Both Vision and Mission were set during 2023 Sabah retreat and strategic planning session. Objectives:
1) To unite all members of the dental industry in a common endeavor to develop the dental industry in Malaysia for the benefit of the members.
2) To assist and uphold the member benefits and rights in terms of the industrial, business relationship, disputes, social economy, legal and regulatory matters.
3) To conduct and coordinate training and education for the dental industry.
4) To represent, communicate and collaborate with the relevant ministries and various associations on all matters related to the dental industry.
5) To organise conferences, seminars, workshops and trade exhibitions related to the dental industry and obtain the approval of CPD points from the relevant authorities.
6) To represent and promote Malaysia's dental industry and the association regionally and internationally.
7) To assist members to obtain funds and grants for business operation and expansion.
8) To provide and organise voluntary activities, charitable work and community welfare. MDIA started Malaysia International Dental Show (MIDS) on 23-25 September 2016, being the 8th edition in 2025, is the leading international show of its kind to be held in Malaysia and the region, this time organized by both the dental school of the university together with the trade association, namely MAHSA University and MDIA. Mission of MIDS: To be the platform for all stakeholders in the dental community both local and regional organised by dental and trade organisations. Our member companies also play a vital & important role in providing oral healthcare professionals with essential education and training to ensure the safe and effective use of modern technology in the dental device. ️

(Meeting on the Delivery & Receiving of Medical Device Products & Equipment in Malaysia)@

The Malaysia Dental Industry Association (MDIA), together with the Malaysia Dental Technologists Association (MDTA) and Persatuan Juruteknologi Pergigian Malaysia, held a productive engagement session with the Medical Device Authority - MDA , Ministry of Health Malaysia to discuss matters relating to the delivery and receiving of medical device products and equipment in Malaysia.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for constructive dialogue on strengthening the regulatory framework and improving the efficiency of the dental supply chain. Various recommendations were deliberated, and several initiatives were mutually agreed upon to enhance industry practices while ensuring regulatory compliance and patient safety.

MDIA would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Medical Device Authority, its Chief Executive Dr Muralitharan Paramasua & all participating stakeholders for their openness, commitment, and collaborative spirit in driving continuous improvements for the dental industry.

Together, we move towards a stronger, safer, and more efficient dental ecosystem in Malaysia.

Sesi Libat Urus: Kawalan Penjualan Peralatan Pergigian Dalam Talian (Engagement Session: Regulation of the Online Sale of Dental Equipment)

Today, the Malaysian Dental Industry Association (MDIA) had the opportunity to participate in a Stakeholder Engagement Session on the Regulation of Online Sales of Dental Equipment with the Oral Health Program, Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) Program Kesihatan Pergigian KKM together with representatives from Shopee Malaysia, Lazada Malaysia, and TikTok Shop Malaysia.

The engagement provided a valuable platform for constructive dialogue on addressing the growing concern of unregulated dental and oral products being sold through e-commerce platforms, while reinforcing the importance of protecting both industry integrity and consumer safety.

During the session, MDIA shared the industry’s ongoing efforts in collaboration with the Medical Device Authority - MDA over the past several years to curb unregulated online sales through industry education, compliance initiatives, and awareness programmes. MDIA also presented several recommendations, including:

• Strengthening compliance requirements for online medical device listings through mandatory disclosure of regulatory information.
• Enhancing awareness and training for e-commerce platform listing teams on medical device regulations.
• Supporting stronger enforcement and verification measures throughout the supply chain.
• Encouraging closer collaboration among regulators, industry stakeholders and digital marketplaces to ensure only compliant medical devices reach consumers.

MDIA sincerely thanks the Program Kesihatan Pergigian KKM, as well as representatives from Shopee Malaysia, Lazada Malaysia, and TikTok Shop Malaysia, for their openness, constructive discussions, and commitment towards improving the regulatory ecosystem for online sales of dental equipment.
