This patient, 39 years old, however presented with frank hematuria and loin pain. His CT scan showed a 11cm tumour. Histopathology showed renal vein tumour thrombosis (T3a disease). This patient will have higher risk of recurrence and needs more intensive surveillance. Renal cell cancer is notoriously resistant to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, prognosis is actually quite good if operated when only localised. Unfortunately, most kidney cancers are silent until late stage.

Recently did 3 laparoscopic nephrectomy in 1 week before Chinese New Year. All young patients. This CT scan showed a 7.5cm left renal tumour, he basically have no symptoms and come to check other things and incidentally detected the mass on ultrasound. This is the most common presentation nowadays.
