👁️☀️ *PTERYGIUM: THAT FLESHY GROWTH IN YOUR EYE YOU SHOULDN’T IGNORE!*

Have you ever noticed a pinkish or reddish fleshy growth creeping from the white part of your eye towards the coloured part? 👀

It could be *Pterygium* commonly known as *Surfer’s Eye*! 🏖️

🔍 *WHAT IS PTERYGIUM?*

Pterygium is a non-cancerous growth of tissue on the conjunctiva (the clear membrane covering the white part of your eye). It can gradually grow towards the cornea, the clear front surface of your eye.

☀️ *WHAT CAUSES IT?*

Long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, wind, dust and dry environments may increase your risk. People who spend a lot of time outdoors, especially under strong sunlight, are more likely to develop this condition.

⚠️ *COMMON SYMPTOMS TO LOOK OUT FOR:*
🔴 Redness in the eye
💧 Dryness, itching or irritation
👁️ A feeling that something is stuck in your eye
🌫️ Blurred vision in more advanced cases
🩷 A visible fleshy growth on the white part of the eye

Some people may not experience symptoms at first, so don’t ignore unusual changes in your eyes!

Choose sunglasses that block 99–100% of UVA and UVB rays, especially when spending time outdoors.

🔍 WHAT IS CATARACT?

A cataract happens when the natural lens inside your eye becomes cloudy. Instead of light passing through clearly, your vision may become blurry, dim or hazy — almost like looking through a foggy window! 🌫️

👁️⚠️ GLAUCOMA: THE SILENT THIEF OF SIGHT! 😨

Imagine slowly losing your vision… without even realising it. 💔

Sounds scary, right? But that’s why understanding GLAUCOMA is SO important! 👀

💡 WHAT IS GLAUCOMA?

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, which carries visual information from your eyes to your brain. High eye pressure is an important risk factor, although glaucoma can also occur when eye pressure is within the normal range.

The scary part? 😳 Early glaucoma often has NO obvious symptoms. You might feel that your vision is perfectly fine while damage is already happening.

🔍 WHAT HAPPENS IF IT GOES UNDETECTED?

As glaucoma progresses, it can cause:
👁️ Gradual loss of side (peripheral) vision
🌑 Difficulty noticing objects at the edges of your vision
🚇 Tunnel vision in advanced stages
⚠️ Permanent vision loss if the damage becomes severe

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 WHO IS AT HIGHER RISK?

You may have a higher risk if you:
✔️ Are over 40 years old
✔️ Have a family history of glaucoma
✔️ Have high eye pressure

🚨 CAN GLAUCOMA BE CURED?
