"Every optical shop told us a different eye power... so which one is correct?"
A mum recently told us,
"My son's teacher said he couldn't see the whiteboard clearly, so we brought him for an eye test."
They visited one optical shop.
Then another.
Then another.
Each time, the machine showed a slightly different result.
The family became more confused than when they first started.
"Did my child's eyesight suddenly change?"
"Does my child really need glasses?"
"Should we see an eye specialist first?"
If you've ever had the same questions, you're not alone.
What many parents don't realise is that the machine doesn't make the final decision. It's simply one part of the eye examination.
Children's eyes are different from adults'. They can focus differently during testing, which is why two machine readings may not be exactly the same.
That's why an experienced optometrist doesn't just look at the numbers. We assess how your child sees, how their eyes work together, and whether glasses are needed or if further examination is the better next step.
Sometimes the answer is yes.
Sometimes it's not yet.
Sometimes more assessment is needed before making a decision.
Every child is different.
If your child is struggling to see the whiteboard, squinting, or saying things look blurry, don't let one machine reading be the only answer.
Behind every blurry whiteboard is a child who simply wants to see clearly, learn confidently, and enjoy school like everyone else. ❤️
