Fever days happen in almost every Malaysian home. Someone feels warm, tired, achy, and the first thought is usually: maybe it is the weather, maybe it is just a normal fever, maybe a bit of rest will help.

Sometimes, that may be true. But because dengue can start with symptoms that feel familiar¹, it helps to know what to keep an eye on.

Save this quick guide for the next fever day at home. It is a simple reminder of what dengue may feel like, what changes to watch for, and when it may be time to speak to a doctor.

A little awareness can help you make a clearer decision when someone at home is feeling unwell.

Consult your doctor about dengue vaccination, eliminating breeding sites and preventing mosquito bites.

Many people believe dengue is something that can simply be treated once it happens. There is no cure for dengue, only supportive care to help manage symptoms while the body recovers¹.

That is why prevention matters. Because once dengue strikes, it can mean missing the moments that matter most, from speech day and sports day to the everyday moments families treasure together.

Stay informed, know your risk, and take dengue prevention seriously.

Consult your doctor about dengue vaccination, eliminating breeding sites and preventing mosquito bites.

"Dengue is not serious.” 🦟

What do you think? React before you swipe:
👍 True
❤️ False

The answer is false.

It can start quietly, with no clear signs, or feel like a mild flu. But in some cases, dengue can worsen quickly and become serious.¹

That is why it helps to know what to look out for. Warning signs may include severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, rapid breathing, bleeding from the gums or nose, extreme tiredness or restlessness, blood in vomit or stool, intense thirst, pale or cold skin, and weakness.¹

When the signs seem mild, it can be easy to wait and hope it passes. But with dengue, early medical intervention can make a difference.

Consult your doctor about dengue vaccination, eliminating breeding sites and preventing mosquito bites.

Dengue doesn’t always look like a warning.

Sometimes, it looks like a missed ride around the neighbourhood, a weekend plan put on hold, or a moment your child was looking forward to.

As cases continue to be reported across Malaysia, it’s important to stay aware of the risk around you, including dengue hotspots in your area. Hotspots are areas where an outbreak has lasted for more than 30 days¹.

Watching her ride a bicycle for the first time, seeing that look of pure joy as she pedals forward, these are the moments that bring you pride.

But protecting precious moments like these also means looking at dengue as a family concern. It can affect the adults children depend on too. Nearly 2 in 3 dengue deaths involve people aged 15 to 59, an age group many parents fall into.¹

The person steadying the bicycle, cheering her on, and helping her try again matters too. When dengue affects a parent or caregiver, it can disrupt the routines and little milestones families work so hard to protect.

Because some moments are too precious to lose.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. Consult your doctor about dengue vaccination, eliminating breeding sites and preventing mosquito bites.

Weekend football games may look like a simple routine, but to a child, it can be the moment they have been waiting for all week.

As parents, we do what we can to help protect these precious moments. Even when you're doing everything right, the risk can still be there. Dengue can become serious fast, even when symptoms start mild, and children are also 2x more likely to develop severe dengue compared to adults.¹⁻²

When a child has trained, waited, and looked forward to showing up on the field, even one missed moment can mean a lot.

Because they only get this moment once.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. Consult your doctor about dengue vaccination, eliminating breeding sites and preventing mosquito bites.

Today is ASEAN Dengue Day.

A day to pause and remember that dengue doesn't just affect statistics. It affects real people, real families, and real moments that can't be recovered.

Dengue can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or occupation¹⁻². 🌍 In areas where Aedes mosquitoes are present, dengue risk can be closer than we think, and symptoms may sometimes seem like a common fever at first.

This ASEAN Dengue Day, take action early. Because the moments we protect are the ones we get to keep.

Consult your doctor about dengue vaccination, eliminating breeding sites and preventing mosquito bites.

Being “too busy” is exactly why dengue can catch us off guard. 🦟

Between work, school runs, traffic jams, and daily routines, it’s easy to overlook dengue prevention. But dengue doesn’t wait for a convenient time. In Malaysia, dengue cases continue to affect families and communities every year, and severe dengue can lead to hospitalisation and time away from the things that matter most¹⁻².

The good news? Small preventive habits can make a difference.

✔️ Use mosquito repellent.
✔️ Clear standing water around your home.
✔️ Wear protective clothing when possible.

A few minutes today may help prevent days of disruption tomorrow.

Consult your doctor about dengue vaccination, eliminating breeding sites and preventing mosquito bites.
