THE FLYING CAR APPROACH ๐
That was the name our participants gave to our unique method of understanding airway anatomy and bronchial branch tracing during BRONCHOSCOPY NEXT LEVEL. By visualising the bronchial tree like navigating a flying car through a tunnel, complex 3D anatomy became easier to understand, easier to remember, and much more enjoyable to learn.
We were delighted to organise this one-day immersive workshop in collaboration with KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 and KPJ Healthcare University, with the support of our industry partners Fujifilm Malaysia and Ambu.
The day was packed with interactive learning, engaging discussions, and extensive hands-on experience. Participants first explored airway anatomy from a true three-dimensional perspective using our 3D airway model and 3D virtual airway, before translating that knowledge to virtual bronchoscopy, airway mapping, and bronchial branch tracing. The learning journey culminated in practical Radial EBUS bronchoscopy sessions, where participants applied these concepts in a realistic, supervised setting.
We were privileged to be joined by an outstanding faculty. A special thank you to our international guest speaker, Dr Sourabh Pahuja (India), for sharing his invaluable expertise and wealth of experience in bronchoscopy.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to Dr Kho Sze Shyang (Sarawak)โour very own bronchoscopy sifuโwhose passion for teaching, practical insights, and years of experience made every session both engaging and inspiring.
Our hands-on sessions were expertly guided by Dr Wan Jen Lye (Hospital Selayang) and Dr Teoh Sze Kye (Hospital Ampang), both highly experienced diagnostic and interventional pulmonologists. Their dedication, patience, and close supervision ensured every participant had the opportunity to practise, ask questions, and build confidence in their bronchoscopy skills.
We were also honoured to have Dr Afif and the dedicated team from our Pathology Department share their expertise on Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) of lung cancer specimens. Their session highlighted the vital role of immediate cytological assessment during bronchoscopy and demonstrated how close collaboration between pulmonologists and pathologists can improve specimen adequacy, diagnostic yield, and ultimately patient care. We sincerely thank them for their invaluable contribution to the workshop.
Of course, no great workshop is complete without great food. Participants enjoyed delicious meals throughout the day, a freshly brewed coffee bar to keep everyone energised, and a crowd favouriteโsatay with nasi impit. It was the perfect setting to catch up with old friends, meet new colleagues, and strengthen the growing bronchoscopy community.
