Advancing Complex Coronary Intervention with Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) Technology at KPJ Rawang Specialist Hospital
Led by Dr. Choor Chee Ken, Consultant in Internal Medicine (General) & Cardiology at KPJ Rawang Specialist Hospital, in collaboration with Professor Dr. Chee Kok Han, Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Professor in the Department of Medicine at Universiti Malaya (UM), the Cath Lab team successfully performed a highly complex CTO PCI involving the LAD artery, demonstrating advanced expertise in managing high-risk coronary interventions.
The challenging lesion was successfully crossed, while IVUS revealed diffuse disease with severe proximal calcification. By utilizing cutting-edge Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) technology, the team achieved optimal lesion preparation and stent expansion, showcasing the hospital’s capability in delivering state-of-the-art complex coronary care.
The procedure was further strengthened by excellent perioperative management from the anaesthetic team led by Dr. Kamal-Bashar Abu Bakar, Consultant in Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, Intensive Care at KPJ Rawang Specialist Hospital, ensuring patient stability throughout the intervention.
