A new milestone for Avisena Healthcare as we officially launch our Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Orthopaedics, Trauma & Spine (OTS), bringing together the expertise of Avisena Specialist Hospital and Avisena Specialist Hospital 2.

The launch was officiated by Dr Razman Abd Karim, Chief Executive Officer of Avisena Specialist Hospital, followed by an introduction to the OTS CoE by Dr Ariff Sukimin bin Mohammad Shukri, Consultant Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon.

The OTS CoE brings together our specialists, technology and multidisciplinary expertise to support patients throughout their orthopaedic, trauma and spine care journey.

Today’s Emergency Awareness Day was all about getting our community more familiar with what to do when an emergency happens. Participants got to experience a CPR demo, pick up some useful health tips, join in fun activities, and even have a closer look at our ambulance! 🚑

Another step forward in managing complex orthopaedic cases!

Our team, supported by Col (R) Dato' Dr Jaseemuddeen Abu Bakar, Consultant Anaesthetist & Critical Care Specialist, worked alongside Dr Eyrique Goh Boay Heong, Visiting Consultant Orthopaedic Musculoskeletal Oncology Surgeon, in a complex procedure for a patient with Osteosarcoma of the left distal femur (thigh bone).

The surgery involved removing the tumour and replacing the affected part of the thigh bone and knee with an endoprosthesis.

The tumour was large and located close to the major blood vessels behind the knee, making the procedure particularly complex and requiring careful dissection to protect the surrounding structures.

This case reflects the value of bringing together specialist expertise and a dedicated hospital team to support patients through complex surgical care.
