Having sprained ankle? Also known as Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a common problem for athletes and desk jockeys alike. Just treating the bottom of the foot with orthotics, heat/ice, massage, etc, is only addressing the symptoms, but not the cause. What are we about to do is all about finding the cause. Why is the plantar fascia so tight? Look at the line of muscles from the sole of the foot to the gluteus maximus. all of these have to work together in a kinetic chain to produce leg movement. What if one part isn't doing its job? Another part will have to work harder. In PF, commonly the glutes don't fire properly, the calf muscles compensate, and when they tighten from overwork, so does plantar fascia
