Most people think hand injuries happen because workers aren't careful.
But research says otherwise.
The real problem?
We use our hands for almost everything.
To lift.
To hold.
To adjust.
To clear jams.
To catch falling objects.
When something goes wrong, our first instinct is to reach with our hands.
That's why hand and finger injuries remain one of the most common workplace injuries across industries.
Even experienced workers get hurt during "just a quick job."
Changing a blade.
Clearing a conveyor.
Opening a carton.
Removing a blockage.
It only takes one second.
One wrong movement can lead to deep lacerations, crushed fingers, or even permanent amputation.
The lesson isn't "be more careful."
The lesson is to make the job safer.
✓ Lock out machinery before clearing jams.
✓ Keep hands away from pinch points.
✓ Use the right cut-resistant gloves for the task.
✓ Never bypass machine guards.
✓ Slow down, especially during routine work.
Because your hands are more than just tools.
They're the tools you use for everything else.
