Glutathione is often called the Master Antioxidant, yet many people are unaware of just how important it is to our health and well-being.

According to Dr Robert H. Keller, maintaining sufficient Glutathione is essential for cellular protection, immune function and detoxification. When Glutathione levels become depleted, cells become more vulnerable to oxidative damage, immune function may become impaired and the body's ability to neutralise and eliminate toxins can become compromised.

Glutathione also plays a critical role in protecting our cells from the harmful by-products generated during normal oxygen metabolism. Without adequate Glutathione, maintaining healthy cellular function becomes increasingly difficult.

Research has shown that glutathione levels tend to decline with age, while modern lifestyles expose us to increasing amounts of oxidative stress, environmental toxins, poor dietary habits and other factors that may further deplete our body's Glutathione reserves.

This raises an important question:

If Glutathione is so vital to cellular health, immune defence and detoxification, what is the most effective way to support and maintain healthy glutathione levels as we age?

09/06/2026

In a human study involving 124 healthy adults, researchers found that Glutathione levels in lymphocytes gradually declined with age in both men and women. By the age of 60 to 80 years, Glutathione levels were significantly lower than those observed in younger adults.

These findings suggest that the natural ageing process may reduce the body's cellular antioxidant defences, potentially making cells more vulnerable to oxidative damage and environmental stressors.

Maintaining healthy Glutathione levels becomes increasingly important for supporting cellular protection, antioxidant defence and overall wellbeing as we get older.

Why do our Glutathione levels decline?

As we age, our bodies are constantly exposed to factors that can reduce Glutathione levels, including stress, environmental toxins, lack of sleep, excessive sun exposure, smoking, alcohol consumption and poor dietary habits.

Low Glutathione levels are closely associated with increased oxidative stress and cellular inflammation. Over time, these processes may contribute to cellular damage and a gradual decline in overall well-being and quality of life.

One of the greatest challenges is that Intracellular Glutathione, the Glutathione found inside our cells where it is needed most, can be difficult to increase. This has led scientists to explore more effective ways of supporting the body's natural Glutathione production.

Understanding why Glutathione declines is the first step towards maintaining healthy cellular function and protecting ourselves against the effects of oxidative stress.

The important question is not whether Glutathione declines. The question is how we can effectively support healthy Glutathione levels as we age.

08/06/2026

As we age, our Glutathione levels naturally decline while oxidative stress continues to increase. Research suggests that lower Glutathione levels are associated with reduced cellular protection and may be linked to a higher risk of health challenges.

Scientists have observed that cellular dysfunction may begin when Glutathione levels decline significantly, highlighting the importance of maintaining healthy intracellular Glutathione levels throughout life.

Protecting your Glutathione levels may be one of the most important investments you can make in your long-term health and well-being.

When glutathione declines, cellular protection weakens. When cellular protection weakens, health may suffer.

Did you know that our Glutathione levels naturally decline as we age?

Research suggests that Glutathione levels may decrease by approximately 10% to 15% every 10 years from around age 20, with the decline becoming more pronounced after age 50. At the same time, oxidative stress continues to increase due to free radicals, environmental exposure, inflammation and the natural ageing process.

As Glutathione levels fall, our cells may become less effective at protecting themselves from oxidative damage. Some scientists believe that cellular dysfunction can begin when Glutathione levels have declined by approximately 30%.

Understanding this age-related decline is one of the key reasons why researchers have spent decades studying ways to support healthy intracellular Glutathione levels.

Protect your cells today to help support your health tomorrow.

Unlike many nutrients that can be absorbed directly from food or supplements, Glutathione works most effectively when it is synthesised where it is needed most, "inside the cells".

The reason is simple. Glutathione carries out its vital functions within the cells, helping to neutralise free radicals, support detoxification, maintain cellular health and protect against oxidative stress. When Glutathione is produced inside the cell, it is immediately available for use without needing to cross additional biological barriers.

This is why many researchers focus on supporting the body's own natural production of Glutathione rather than relying solely on external sources. The goal is to ensure that cells have the building blocks required to manufacture Glutathione, where it can perform its most important functions.

The key is not just having Glutathione available, but having it produced where it matters most "inside the cell".
