"EVERY PAIN HAS A STORY, - UNDERSTANDING IT IS THE FIRST STEP TO RECOVERY"

What is pain?
Pain is the body’s natural warning system—a signal that something may be wrong. It is a complex experience that involves not just physical sensations, but also emotional and psychological responses. Pain can be acute, appearing suddenly due to injury or illness, or chronic, lasting for weeks or even months, often without a clear cause. In the case of back pain, it may stem from muscle strain, poor posture, spinal issues, or lifestyle factors. Understanding pain is the first step toward managing it effectively. Rather than simply masking the symptoms, it’s essential to uncover the underlying source—because pain is not just a condition, it’s a communication from your body asking for attention and care.

Today's health talk on back pain and spine care held at KWSP Sungai Petani. The session was presented by our esteemed Associate Professor Dr. Chew Heng Hai, a leading expert in occupational health and spine care. Dr. Chew emphasized that understanding back pain requires more than treating symptoms—it involves identifying its root causes, whether biomechanical, postural, or lifestyle-related. Through clear, evidence-based insights, he guided attendees on how to interpret pain signals correctly and adopt effective strategies for long-term spinal health. The session offered both the public and professionals valuable tools to take control of their well-being and move toward a pain-free life.
