Honourable Prime Minister,

The Ministry of Health should not attempt to cover up its mistakes by repatriating innocent students from Zambia. The nation deserves to know how scholarships were awarded to applicants who did not meet the academic requirements while many qualified students were overlooked.

How can a student who completed only Commerce subjects be awarded a scholarship to study a three-year Diploma in Dental Therapy, a programme that requires a strong science background? At the same time, students who completed the required science subjects and met the admission criteria were denied scholarships. This raises serious questions about the fairness and transparency of the selection process.

Some of the students who received these scholarships resigned from their jobs after being awarded government sponsorship. If the Ministry now decides to remove or repatriate them, what responsibility will it take for the disruption it has caused to their lives and careers?

Honourable Minister of Health, rather than removing students from Zambia, I urge you to conduct a thorough investigation into the scholarship selection process. Review the criteria that were used, examine the academic results of both successful and unsuccessful applicants, and determine whether the process was fair and merit-based. I believe such an investigation will reveal where the system failed.

Had scholarships been awarded to qualified candidates from the beginning, the Ministry would not be facing the challenges it is dealing with today.

The Namibian people deserve a scholarship system that is transparent, accountable, and based on merit not one influenced by favouritism or personal connections.

Honourable Prime Minister, I respectfully call on you to institute a thorough investigation into the Ministry of Health's headquarters, particularly the scholarship administration process. Any allegations of corruption, favouritism, or abuse of public resources should be investigated.

If there are internal issues within the Human Resources Department at your headquarters, those matters should be resolved internally without involving students or the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCN).

The Ministry should not drag students into internal disputes over positions or administrative conflicts. Furthermore, they should stop unfairly targeting private institutions in Zambia. No one compelled the Ministry to award scholarships to students who did not meet the required points. Where mistakes were made in the scholarship selection process, they should be corrected in a fair, transparent, and amicable manner without negatively affecting other students.

The Ministry must also recognize that not every Namibian student studying in Zambia is sponsored under its scholarship programme. The confusion and disruption being caused to students studying in Zambia should stop immediately. Innocent students should not suffer because of administrative failures or internal conflicts within the Ministry.

Could you please explain to the nation the criteria and requirements your Ministry used to award scholarships to students who appear to be unqualified while leaving out those who meet the required qualifications?

OR WE SHOULD EXPOSE EVERYTHING HERE?WHY ARE YOU NOT USING THE SAME CRITERIA AND REQUIREMENTS NSFAF IS USING?

POOR PEOPLE DESERVE OPPORTUNITIES NOT THE CONNECTED ONE.

Open Letter to the Honourable Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Minister of Health and Social Services, and NSFAF

I am deeply concerned about the challenges facing young Namibians who want to pursue higher education, especially in critical fields such as Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, and Dentistry.

Many students were forced to change their career choices after these programmes were removed from the NSFAF priority list. Some were admitted to universities in countries like Zambia, India, and South Africa, only to later be informed that they need HPCNA curriculum approval.

The question is: When did this become an NSFAF requirement, and why were students not informed from the beginning? Policies affecting the future of young people must be clear, fair, and transparent.

To HPCNA, many Namibians believed you had the capacity to evaluate curricula yourselves. If programmes are being reviewed outside Namibia, people deserve to understand why and how these decisions are made.

To NSFAF, if funding is limited, please communicate honestly with students instead of creating additional barriers after admission.

I also ask: Does the SWAPO government truly have young people at heart? The future of Namibia depends on how we invest in our youth today.

This is not a threat, but a reminder: the way young people are treated today will influence how they judge leadership tomorrow. Five years pass quickly, and soon we will stop talking and simply watch from a distance as actions speak louder than words.

Young Namibians deserve opportunities, fairness, and a government that believes in their future.

I celebrate the man I have become — a man with unique qualities, rare characteristics, a strong spirit, and a heart shaped by every experience along the way.
