🌙 Little Snores Can Be a Big Clue 😴

While the occasional snore during a cold may be nothing to worry about, persistent snoring and mouth breathing in children shouldn’t simply be ignored.

Common causes can include enlarged adenoids or tonsils, allergies, chronic nasal congestion or other causes of a blocked nose. When a child struggles to breathe freely during sleep, it can affect sleep quality, behaviour, concentration and overall wellbeing. In some children, persistent sleep-disordered breathing may also affect dental and facial development and, when significant and untreated, place strain on the cardiovascular system.

🩺 If your child regularly snores or mouth breathes, speak to your doctor. Identifying and treating the underlying cause can help your child breathe better, sleep better and thrive. 💙

🦠 When does a viral infection become something more?

Most viral infections improve with time, rest and supportive care — but sometimes symptoms persist, worsen, or change, which may indicate a complication or secondary infection.

Remember: antibiotics do not treat viral infections, but they may be needed if a bacterial infection develops. If you’re unsure whether your illness is following the normal course, rather get assessed.
