WHEN TO FIND OUT TYE BABY’S GENDER

The baby’s gender can often be identified by ultrasound, but the timing matters:

AT 12-14WEEKS:

Sometimes it can be predicted, but accuracy depends on the baby’s position, the quality of the ultrasound machine, and the experience of the sonographer. It’s not always reliable at this stage.

AT 16 WEEKS:

In many cases, the baby’s gender can be identified with good accuracy if the baby is in a favorable position.

AT 19- 22 WEEKS:

This is the best and most reliable time to determine the baby’s gender during the routine anatomy (anomaly) scan. Accuracy is usually over 95% when the baby’s position allows a clear view.

Keep in mind that even at 18–22 weeks, the baby may be lying in a position that makes it difficult to see the ge***al area, so the sonographer may not be able to confirm the gender during that scan.

SIGNS OF PREECLAMPSIA!!!!!

A woman came for antenatal total with a very elevated bloòd pressure. When I’m saying elevated I’m talking 200 plus!! We did urine analysis and found protein in it. She also had severe headache and if you are informed you know that it is already tailoring down to one thing which is PREECLAMPSIA!

I know that most of you don’t know the warning signs or even know what to look out for that is why I’m here to tell you the signs and symptoms of PREECLAMPSIA 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

SIGNS OF PREECLAMPSIA

1. Severe or persistent headache
2. Blurred vision, seeing spots, or sensitivity to light
3. Sudden swelling of the face, hands, or feet
4. High blood pressure (140/90 mmHg or higher)
5. Protein in the urine (found during antenatal testing)
6. Sudden weight gain over a short period due to fluid retention
7. Nausea or vomiting (especially after 20 weeks of pregnancy)
8. Severe pain under the right ribs or upper abdomen
9. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
10. Passing much less urine than usual

⚠️ Important: Preeclampsia is a medical emergency. If a pregnant woman develops any of these symptoms especially severe headache, vision changes, severe upper abdominal pain, or difficulty breathing she should seek immediate medical care.

Here are 8 things that can affect a baby inside the womb:

1. Poor maternal nutrition;
This is why you advise that you eat well and healthy cause your baby nourishes from you. Not getting enough nutrients can affect the baby’s growth and development.

2. Smoking, alcohol, and recreational drugs
These increase the risk of miscarriage, birth defects, premature birth, and low birth weight.

3. Uncontrolled medical conditions
Conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, or severe anemia can affect the baby if not well managed.

4. Certain infections
Infections like rubella, toxoplasmosis, cytomegalovirus (CMV), syphilis, and Zika virus can harm the developing baby.

5. Some medications
Certain prescription, over-the-counter, or herbal medicines may not be safe during pregnancy unless approved by a healthcare provider.

6. Exposure to harmful chemicals or radiation
Lead, mercury, pesticides, some industrial chemicals, and high-dose radiation can interfere with fetal development.

7. Poorly controlled stress and lack of prenatal care
Chronic severe stress and missing antenatal appointments may increase the risk of pregnancy complications and delay detection of problems.

8. Physical trauma
Serious injuries from falls, road traffic accidents, or violence can put both the mother and baby at risk.

Remember: Regular antenatal care, a balanced diet, avoiding harmful substances, taking prescribed prenatal vitamins (especially folic acid), and promptly treating medical conditions are some of the best ways to protect your baby during pregnancy.
