DeAR WOMEN⦠ā¤ļø
When it comes to correcting an unpleasant behaviour in marriage, I believe there are certain things that can help.
Speak with love.
Choose the right time to talk.
Avoid insults, comparisons, public embarrassment and unnecessary shouting.
Appreciate the good things your partner does, and when something needs to be addressed, communicate it calmly.
These things can make a difference when the other person is also willing to listen and make changes.
But hereās something I think we sometimes forget:
You cannot change someone who doesnāt want to change.
You can communicate your feelings.
You can explain how their behaviour affects you.
You can encourage them.
You can lead by example.
You can be patient and supportive.
But ultimately, change is a personal decision.
Marriage shouldnāt be one person constantly trying to fix the other. Both partners have to be willing to look at themselves, take responsibility, make adjustments and grow.
And yes, we should accept that our partners are human and imperfect. ā¤ļø
But acceptance doesnāt mean pretending that everything is okay or continuously tolerating behaviour that hurts you.
Sometimes, the goal isnāt to find the perfect way to change your partner.
Sometimes, itās about communicating honestly, understanding what you can control, setting healthy boundaries and allowing the other person to take responsibility for their own growth.
Because love can encourage changeā¦
But willingness is what makes change possible. ā¤ļø
What do you think? Can love and patience change a person, or does the person have to be willing to change first? š
