A Milestone Achieved: Muncika Primary Health Care Facility Officially Handed Over

After five months of dedicated work and collaboration, Rural Health Mission Nigeria is proud to announce the successful commissioning and handover of the renovated Muncika Primary Health Care (PHC) Facility in Fika Local Government Area, Yobe State.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by the PHC Coordinator of Fika LGA, community leaders, health workers, and other stakeholders. During the event, the renovated facility was officially handed over to the Primary Health Care management for continued service delivery to the people of Muncika and surrounding communities.

The rehabilitation has transformed the facility into a more functional and patient-friendly health center, equipped with:

✅ Reliable 24/7 electricity through a solar power system.
✅ A portable water supply from a newly installed solar-powered borehole.
✅ Renovated consultation and treatment areas.
✅ Improved sanitation facilities.
✅ A safer and more conducive environment for both patients and healthcare workers.

During the handover, Rural Health Mission Nigeria appealed to the PHC Coordinator of Fika LGA to deploy qualified midwives to the facility so that maternal, newborn, and child health services can be provided around the clock. With uninterrupted electricity and clean water now available, the facility is fully prepared to support quality maternal healthcare and safe deliveries at any time of the day or night.

This achievement reflects our commitment to strengthening primary healthcare systems and improving access to quality healthcare for underserved communities.

Rural Health Mission Nigeria is proud to announce the successful handover of the renovated Mincika Primary Healthcare Facility in Fika LGA, Yobe State to the Fika LGA Primary Healthcare Department under our Life-Saving Intervention Project.

What was done:
- Facility renovation
- Solar-powered lighting + borehole for clean water
- New hospital beds, modern delivery bed & essential medical equipment
- Renovated toilets, ceiling fans
- 100 Safe Delivery Kits to strengthen maternal & child health

The ceremony was attended by PHC Directors, Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Community Elders, Youth Leaders, and the RHEMN CEO & team.

The Director of PHC Fika LGA described the intervention as "timely and impactful" and will greatly improve maternal and newborn care. Community leaders pledged to protect the facility and called for more partnership.

Rural Health Mission Nigeria Advances Digital Health in Gombe

Rural Health Mission Nigeria successfully conducted a one-day training for Community Health Workers in Gombe Local Government Area on the use of the LifeCare Connect digital health platform.

Developed by Rural Health Mission Nigeria, LifeCare Connect is a digital practice support tool designed to strengthen community healthcare delivery, particularly in rural and underserved communities. The platform empowers community health workers by providing:

✅ Easy access to clinical practice guidelines and job aids
✅ A seamless referral system connecting frontline health workers with experienced healthcare professionals for technical support
✅ Online training courses for continuous professional development and capacity building
✅ Telemedicine services that enable patients to consult qualified healthcare providers remotely
✅ Reliable health education resources that promote healthy behaviours and disease prevention

During the training, participants gained practical skills on how to effectively use the platform to support patient care, improve referrals, and enhance access to quality healthcare services within their communities.

This initiative reflects our commitment to leveraging digital innovation to strengthen primary healthcare systems, support frontline health workers, and expand equitable access to quality healthcare for every community.

From Scarcity to Access: Clean Water for Munchika

BEFORE: Munchika Community, Fika LGA, Yobe State relied on distant, unsafe water sources. The health facility had no water for use, making hygiene and emergency care difficult.

AFTER: Through Rural Health Mission Nigeria’s intervention, solar-powered boreholes now provide clean, portable water to both the facility and the entire community.

Today, the facility has reliable access to safe water for deliveries, infection prevention, and daily use — something it lacked before.

Clean water at the point of care safer mothers, healthier children, and a stronger community.
