Research helps look beyond the obvious 🔎

It gives a way to uncover patterns, understand complex challenges and turn information into insights that can guide better decisions.

Through the Nigeria Malaria Modelling Fellowship (MMF), we supported over 170 public health professionals in Nigeria to build mathematical modelling capacity. The fellowship combined modelling with epidemiology and transmission dynamics, strengthening participants ability to apply analytical approaches and evidence to public health challenges.

Because research is not only about collecting information. It is about understanding what that information is telling us.

Healthy children, stronger futures 💚

Child health goes beyond access to treatment. It means health systems that deliver timely immunisation, good nutrition, early detection of health and developmental concerns, safe environments, and caregivers equipped to act on what they notice.

Through ReMeDi, Corona Management Systems worked with government and communities in DRC to strengthen these systems.

Parents and community health workers see the early signs long before a clinic does. The systems that work are the ones built to listen to them.

Strengthening the systems behind maternal care 💙

For a woman seeking maternal care, that difference can look like:
A skilled health worker being available.
The right medicines and supplies being in place.
A system that responds when complications arise.

These are what turns availability into access to care.

Through the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (MAMII), we work with partners swapgov, nphcda, fmoh_nigeriaand nhia_nigeria to strengthen the systems, services, and community networks that reduce preventable maternal and newborn deaths.

Because maternal health care is not just about getting women to services, it is about making sure those services are ready for them.

Early care matters. 💙

The days following childbirth are an important time for both mother and child.

Timely care and support can help identify concerns early, support the mother’s recovery, and give families the guidance they need to care for their baby.

A healthy start begins with making sure both mother and child get the care they need.

What does it look like when young people have the confidence and space to speak about their own health?

In this SIXTERS story from Akwa Ibom, Nyakno Tom Smart, a Big Sister in the SIXTERS programme, shares her experience and perspective on the programme.

Meaningful health interventions are about more than what is delivered. They are about giving young people the opportunity to participate, share their experiences and have their voices heard.

Healthy mothers. Healthier children.

A child’s health journey begins long before their first steps.

Supporting mothers with quality care before, during and after pregnancy can help give children a healthier start in life.

When we support mothers, we support the next generation too.

September is PMOS Awareness Month 💙

You may know it as PCOS—Polycystic O***y Syndrome.

The condition is now referred to as Polycystic O***y and Metabolic Syndrome (PMOS) to better reflect its broader impact on hormonal, reproductive and metabolic health.

The change in terminology is an opportunity to improve how we understand and talk about the condition.

This month, let’s build awareness, share reliable information, and encourage more informed conversations about PMOS and women’s health.

25 Years On. Still Needed. 💜

For 25 years, this day has brought people together to remember lives lost to overdose, challenge stigma and promote action.

Overdose is preventable, and while this day is still needed, continued awareness, compassionate support and evidence-based prevention can help save lives.

This International Overdose Awareness Day, remember, raise awareness and take action.

Strong health systems depend on the people who bring them to life. 💙

Health workers are the critical link between health systems and the families they serve. They show up in the hardest places, build trust, and ensure that no mother or child is missed.
Supporting and equipping frontline health workers is central to our work at CMS.

Through capacity building, strengthening data systems that guide service delivery, advancing immunisation programmes, and partnering with communities to build the trust that makes care possible, we create the conditions for quality care to reach every family.

Because strong systems do not replace health workers. They amplify their impact.

Prioritising mental health at work

We often talk about productivity, performance, and results at work, but how often do we talk about mental health?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 12 billion working days are lost globally every year due to depression and anxiety, costing Nealy $1trillion in lost productivity. This highlights just how important mental wellbeing is, not only for individuals but for organisations and teams.

A healthy workplace is one where people feel safe to speak up, seek support, take breaks, and set boundaries. Prioritising mental health can start with simple steps: taking time to rest and recharge, managing workloads realistically, reaching out for support when needed, and fostering open, supportive conversations.

When wellbeing is valued, people can thrive personally and professionally, creating stronger, more resilient teams and healthier professional communities.
