As a professional, I have witnessed sickle cell individuals suffer crisis, the pain is usually intense. I know of this particular one that struggled in school, always falling ill during exams and at is 400level he died. I felt pain the day I heard.
This is the information age, this is not a time to be ignorant about what your is. This is not the time to bring a child into a forever health challenge, not when you can change it.
