Today, the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Bauchi State Chapter, held a press conference at the NVMA Secretariat, Bauchi, to address a critical issue affecting the veterinary profession in the state.
The Chairman, ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ค๐๐ซ ๐๐๐๐ข๐ช ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฆ, called on the Bauchi State Government, under the leadership of ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ง๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ค๐๐๐ข๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ก๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐, to include veterinary doctors in the newly implemented ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ for medical doctors.
He emphasized that both professions occupy the same level within the civil service and should therefore be treated equitably.
Despite the Association's efforts to resolve the matter through appropriate channels, the issue remains unresolved. Consequently, the Association has issued a ๐๐-๐๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฆ to the government to take decisive action.
โ ๏ธ Dr Abubakar warned that if the ultimatum expires without our demands being met, the Association will be left with no choice but to ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ฏ๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ก๐ข ๐๐ญ๐๐ญ๐, including:
1. State Government veterinary establishments and programmes
2. Local Government veterinary services
3. Abattoirs and slaughter facilities
4. Meat inspection and certification services
5. Meat factories and meat processing facilities
6. Vaccination programs
7. Training of students
8. Livestock disease surveillance and control activities
9. Veterinary clinics and other government veterinary functions
10. Other official veterinary activities undertaken by members of the Association
We remain committed to constructive engagement and hope for a swift resolution in the interest of public health, food safety, and the growth of the veterinary profession in Bauchi State.
