NOFIC Bauchi Joins the World in Observing the 2026 International Day to End Obstetric Fistula.

The National Obstetric Fistula Centre (NOFIC) Bauchi joined the global community in commemorating the 2026 International Day to End Obstetric Fistula with the theme: “Her Health is a Right: Invest to End Obstetric Fistula and Childbirth Injuries.”

Speaking during the event, the Medical Director, Dr. Halima Mukaddas, sensitized the public on the causes, dangers, and preventive measures of Obstetric Fistula. She emphasized the importance of timely access to quality maternal healthcare, skilled birth attendance, and community awareness in preventing childbirth injuries and restoring dignity to affected women.

She further called on stakeholders, communities, and individuals to support efforts aimed at ending Obstetric Fistula and ensuring every woman’s right to safe motherhood and quality healthcare services.

In attendance were members of the Top Management Team, Senior Management Team, staff of the Centre, fistula survivors, women living with Obstetric Fistula, and other stakeholders.

🚨🏍️ Strengthening Internal Security for Efficient Service Delivery

The Medical Director of NOFIC Bauchi, Dr. Halima Mukaddas, accompanied by the Director of Administration, Alh. Aminu Nakaka Jibrin, alongside members of the Senior Management Team, officially handed over a brand new Bajaj motorcycle procured for surveillance operations within the Security Office to the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Bashir Haruna.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dr. Halima Mukaddas emphasized the importance of effective and judicious utilization of the motorcycle in strengthening internal security and enhancing surveillance activities within the hospital environment. She further assured the Security Office of Management’s support towards smooth operations through the provision of funds for servicing and registration of the official plate number.

Also speaking, the Director of Administration, Alh. Aminu Nakaka Jibrin, offered prayers and best wishes to the Security Office for the proper use and maintenance of the motorcycle. He further demonstrated his support by personally test-driving the motorcycle around the hospital premises.

In his remarks, the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Bashir Haruna, expressed profound appreciation to the Management of NOFIC Bauchi for the thoughtful and timely gesture. He assured Management that the motorcycle would be effectively utilized to strengthen surveillance and improve security operations across the hospital environment.

Today, the Medical Director of NOFIC Bauchi, Dr. Halima Mukaddas, alongside her Management Team, received on a courtesy visit the newly constituted Management Team of the Bill and Melinda Gates College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ningi, Bauchi State, led by the Provost, Mal. Adamu Mato.

The Provost stated that the visit was aimed at re-establishing and strengthening the existing relationship between the College and NOFIC, while seeking greater collaboration and synergy in the areas of training, research, and clinical care, considering NOFIC’s growing capacity in healthcare professionals’ training.

In her remarks, the Medical Director appreciated the delegation for the visit and encouraged the College Management to develop a strategic plan towards improving the quality of education and institutional growth. She emphasized the need for continuous progress, effective collaboration, regular assessment of students, and practical-based learning with proper supervision and progressive monitoring reports.
Dr. Halima Mukaddas further highlighted various national healthcare programmes and service expansions available at NOFIC, including NEMSAS, CEMOC, NHIA-FFP, Special Baby Care Unit (SCBU), Dental Clinic, among others, while reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to quality healthcare training and service delivery.

The Director of Clinical Services and Training/CMAC, Dr. Aboki Dunah, reiterated that NOFIC remains committed as a training institution and is always ready to receive students posted to the facility based on relevance.

NOFIC Ningi Branch marks the second day of the 2026 Nurses Week Celebration, honouring the dedication and invaluable contributions of nurses in strengthening healthcare delivery and saving lives.





The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), National Obstetric Fistula Centre (NOFIC) Ningi Branch, on Tuesday, 12th May 2026, marked the second day of this year’s Nurses Week Celebration with a memorable and inspiring programme aimed at appreciating the dedication, sacrifice, and invaluable contributions of nurses to healthcare delivery.
The celebration, themed “Our Nurses, Our Future: Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” highlighted the indispensable role nurses play in strengthening healthcare systems and improving patient outcomes through compassion, professionalism, resilience, and quality service delivery.

The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by the Director of Nursing Services, Nr. Rafiat Bolanle, who acknowledged the vital role nurses play in ensuring quality healthcare services and promoting patient wellbeing. She emphasized the importance of teamwork, resilience, compassion, and professionalism, which continue to define the nursing profession.

The programme was graced by the Medical Director, Dr. Halima Mukadass, who served as the Guest of Honour. In her remarks, she expressed profound appreciation to nurses for their unwavering commitment, compassion, and tireless service to humanity. She also commended the 2026 Nurses Week Planning Team for their dedication and efforts in organizing a successful and impactful celebration.

The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), NOFIC Bauchi Branch, on Monday, 11th May 2026, flagged off activities marking this year’s Nurses Week with a road awareness procession themed: "Our Nurses, Our Future: Empowered Nurses, Save Lives"
The awareness walk commenced promptly at 10:00 a.m. from the hospital premises and proceeded through major streets within Ningi town to the Emir’s Palace, where the team was warmly received by the Emir’s representative. The procession later terminated at the Nigeria Police Divisional Headquarters, Ningi.

Present during the exercise were the Director of Nursing Services, Mrs. Rafiat Bolanle; the Chairman of NANNM, NOFIC Ningi Branch, Comrade Umar Sani Adamu; members of the union’s executive council; and other staff of the Centre.

Speaking during the awareness campaign, Mrs. Rafiat Bolanle sensitized members of the public on the newly established Special Baby Care Unit (Paediatric Unit) at the Centre. She also enlightened the public on fistula-related conditions, emphasizing prevention, early intervention, and available treatment options.

In their separate remarks, representatives of the Emir and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ningi Division, appreciated the initiative and pledged continued support in promoting the awareness message within their respective communities.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps alongside NOFIC security personnel, were on ground throughout the exercise to ensure effective coordination and safety during the procession.

🌟 COMMISSIONING OF NOFIC FOOD CANTEEN 🌟

The Top Management Committee (TMC) of NOFIC Bauchi has successfully commissioned the newly established NOFIC Food Canteen, a significant initiative aimed at promoting staff welfare and providing a safe, hygienic, and comfortable feeding environment within the Centre.

The event was attended by the Director of Clinical Services/Training and Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Aboki Ali Dunah; the Director of Administration, Alh. Aminu Nakaka Jibrin; Deputy CMAC, Academics, Dr. Elachi Adaoje Felix; Deputy CMAC, Clinicals, Dr. Evule Chinonye Lawson; Head of Information and Public Relations, Idris Musa Musa; Head of Nutrition and Dietetics, Rukkaiya Uba, alongside other members of staff and Food Committee members.

The commissioning ceremony commenced with an opening prayer delivered by Mohammed Yunusa Chado, followed by opening remarks from the Director of Administration, who commended the Medical Director, Dr. Halima Mukaddas, for turning the vision of the NOFIC Food Canteen into reality through her dedication and commitment to staff welfare.

Management Approves Appointment of Two Deputy CMACs at NOFIC Bauchi

The Management of the National Obstetric Fistula Centre (NOFIC), Ningi, Bauchi State, has approved the appointment of two Deputy Chief Medical Advisory Committee (DCMAC) officers, with effect from 23rd March 2026.

The newly appointed officers are:

Dr. Evule Chinonye Lawson – Deputy CMAC, Clinical Services

Dr. Elachi Adaoje Felix – Deputy CMAC, Academics

The appointees are expected to support the Chief Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) in the effective coordination and management of the Directorate of Clinical Services and Training.

Management extends its congratulations to the newly appointed officers and calls on all staff and members of the hospital community to accord them the necessary cooperation to ensure the continued delivery of quality healthcare services.
