UCTH ON THE NATIONAL STAGE

The Federal Ministry of Health does not spotlight institutions by sentiment. They follow evidence. They follow results.

This recognition is not by accident. It is the harvest of deliberate, visionary, and transformational leadership, a Management team that has chosen excellence not for applause, but as a standard.
Quietly, methodically, and with uncommon dedication, our leadership has repositioned UCTH as a reference point for institutional governance, clinical innovation, and healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

What the Federal Ministry of Health has recognised is what those of us within these walls have witnessed daily, a hospital being rebuilt from the inside out.

From the modernisation of our facilities and the remodelling of our theater, to the strengthening of our specialist services, the building of a motivated workforce, and the entrenchment of accountability at every level of Management, each of these achievements reflects a leadership that takes its mandate seriously.

To be selected for national focus by the apex health authority in the country is a validation that UCTH is no longer merely regional, we are a National institution with a National responsibility.

This magazine is not just a publication. It is a record of what intentional leadership looks like, and a declaration to the Nigerian healthcare landscape that UCTH has arrived at a new level.

Congratulations to our distinguished leadership.

UCTH is rising. The Nation has taken notice.
History is watching.

From Vision to Reality: UCTH Makes History in Keyhole Brain Tumour Surgery.

This is what happens when a system is driven by vision and key stakeholders anchor the dream. An ALL-UCTH team has gone into the brain using keyhole surgical techniques to resect a tumour. WE ARE ABLE! No complaints, no excuses; just focus on building the dream, and they did it.

Our ENT surgeons & Neurosurgeons, Anaesthetists, Nurses, etc have now achieved this significant milestone. Just less than one year after consolidating the minimal access services under one umbrella, we have shown that we can enter from the brain to the knees using keyhole surgical techniques. Congratulations to the Minimal access Surgery Committee led by Prof. Akanimo Essiet, congratulations to the multidisciplinary team that pulled this off, and congratulations to UCTH. In the words of Governor Alex Otti, "The days of playing small are over. We shall no longer confine ourselves to the margins, nor think less of our ability, for we belong to the lineage of dreamers, thinkers and builders".

To all those willing to come with us on this journey, welcome. And may the days ahead be brighter. Congratulations UCTH.
