To create a conducive atmosphere, develop culture regulation, control and management of traffic conflicts, congestions and delays on the public highways in Yobe State by employing modern traffic techniques to inject order and control into the road traffic system in the state. To also keep market traders of unauthorized areas off the roads. Enforce indiscriminate violation of traffic rules within the state. To also reduce the rate of death as a result of reckless driving, to also reduce avoidable injuries and economic losses through road traffic accidents, conflicts, congestion and delays on the public Highway in Yobe State by employing modern traffic management techniques to inject order and control into the road traffic system in the State.

YOROTA CONDUCTS STOP-AND-CHECK EXERCISE AND WEEKLY STAFF POLLING

The Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA), under the leadership of the General Manager and Corps Commandant, Babagana Alhaji Modu Bature Goniri, MBA, MINSTA, CNA, successfully conducted its weekly staff polling exercise on Monday, 17th August 2026, at the Agency's Headquarters in Damaturu.

Shortly after the brief weekly staff polling, YOROTA officers and marshals proceeded to conduct a stop-and-check exercise on road users across the State as part of the Agency's ongoing efforts to promote compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety.

The exercise was attended by management staff, officers, and marshals and formed part of YOROTA's routine administrative and operational activities aimed at strengthening discipline, improving personnel coordination, enhancing operational readiness, and ensuring effective service delivery across Yobe State.

During the exercise, officers and marshals were reminded of the importance of professionalism, dedication to duty, strict adherence to traffic regulations, and courteous engagement with members of the public. They were also encouraged to maintain the highest standards of integrity and discipline while discharging their responsibilities.

The General Manager reaffirmed the Agency's commitment to ensuring safer roads, effective traffic management, and the protection of lives and property throughout Yobe State through regular personnel development, public enlightenment, enforcement, and sustained operational readiness.

During the exercise, officers were reminded of the importance of professionalism, dedication to duty, adherence to traffic regulations, and courteous engagement with members of the public. A halin yanzu, jami'an YOROTA suna kan hanyarsu zuwa wurin domin kula da yanayin zirga-zirga, da tabbatar da cewa an samu daidaito tare da kare lafiyar masu amfani da hanyar.

YOROTA ENFORCES BAN ON ILLEGAL MOTOR PARKS AND ROADSIDE STRUCTURES IN DAMATURU METROPOLITAN AREA

The Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA), under the leadership of the General Manager and Corps Commandant, Babagana Alhaji Modu Bature Goniri, MBA, MINSTA, CNA, has commenced the enforcement of the ban on the operation of illegal motor parks and the er****on of illegal business structures along roadsides within the Damaturu Metropolitan Area.

The enforcement exercise commenced on Monday, 27th July 2026, shortly after the Agency's weekly general staff parade and polling exercise. The operation is aimed at restoring order, enhancing road safety, reducing traffic congestion, and ensuring the free flow of vehicular and pedestrian movement across the state capital.

YOROTA wishes to remind all transport operators, commercial drivers, tricycle operators, and roadside traders that the operation of illegal motor parks and unauthorized business activities along public roads is a violation of existing traffic regulations. Anyone found contravening the directive will be sanctioned in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The Agency therefore calls on transport unions, stakeholders, community leaders, and members of the public to cooperate fully with the enforcement team to ensure the successful implementation of the exercise. Their support is vital in promoting environmental sanitation, maintaining public order, improving traffic management, and creating a safer road network for all road users in Damaturu.

YOROTA Mourns the Passing of the Beloved Mother of Head of Operations, Sadiq Bulama

Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn

The Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA), under the leadership of the General Manager and Corps Commandant, Babagana Alhaji Modu Bature Goniri, MBA, MINSTA, CNA, has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the Head of Operations, Sadiq Bulama, following the passing of his beloved mother.

The General Manager was represented at the funeral by members of the agency's management team and marshals, who attended the Jana'iza (funeral prayer) held today at Ali Marami Central Mosque, Damaturu.

Their presence reflected the agency's deep sympathy, solidarity, and commitment to standing with its staff during moments of grief and loss.

On behalf of the management and entire personnel of YOROTA, the General Manager prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant her Aljannatul Firdaus, and bless the bereaved family with strength, patience, and comfort to bear this great loss.

YOROTA GENERAL MANAGER LEADS SPECIAL SQUAD TO REMOVE ABANDONED ACCIDENT VEHICLE IN DAMATURU

The General Manager and Corps Commandant of YOROTA, Babagana Alhaji Modu Bature Goniri, MBA, MINSTA, CNA, led a special operational squad in the successful removal of an abandoned accident vehicle along the GRA Bypass, Maiduguri Road, Damaturu, Yobe State.

During the operation, the General Manager expressed his profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, for his unwavering support and commitment towards strengthening the Agency. He particularly commended the Governor for providing an additional heavy-duty crane, which has significantly enhanced YOROTA's capacity to promptly remove accident vehicles and road obstructions for the safety and benefit of road users across the state.

Following the briefing by the General Manager, YOROTA marshals successfully removed the abandoned accident vehicle from the roadside and subsequently handed it over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and necessary action.

YOROTA remains committed to ensuring safer roads and a cleaner traffic environment throughout Yobe State.
