Glaucoma is a disease that causes irreversible vision loss. That means once the vision is gone, we cannot bring it back. It’s not curable. But here’s the powerful part, it is manageable if we catch it early.

And this is where many people are surprised…

In the early stages, glaucoma usually has no signs. No pain. No redness. No warning. You can feel completely fine.

So how do you tell?

As the disease progresses, you may start noticing small changes. Maybe when you’re driving, you realize you didn’t see that car coming from the side. Maybe you start bumping into things more often, door frames, tables, objects that have always been there.

Some people describe seeing halos around lights, especially at night. Others notice their side vision slowly narrowing, like the world is closing in little by little.

And because it happens gradually, many people don’t realize it until significant damage has already occurred.

He almost lost one eye.
That shook me.

It made me start looking at my dad’s eyes differently.
I checked my dad… and I found out he also had glaucoma.
