PrEP and PEP are two HIV prevention medications that are often misunderstood or used interchangeably, even though they serve different purposes.
While these medications are highly effective when used correctly, it is important to remember that the most reliable ways to reduce the risk of HIV transmission include abstinence, maintaining a mutually faithful relationship with an uninfected partner, avoiding multiple sexual partners, and not sharing sharp objects such as needles, razors, or other instruments that may be contaminated with blood.
In the simplest terms, I will explain the key difference between PrEP and PEP so that everyone can better understand when and how each is used.
