WHAT IS YOUR PREPARATION FOR THE JUDGMENT DAY? (PART FOUR)

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE JUDGMENT DAY

2 CORINTHIANS 13:5
"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"

1. BY PERSONAL EXAMINATION

As we all know, salvation is personal, and so is judgment. Every individual will give an account of his or her life before God.

Self-examination involves looking inward at your character, habits, motives, and conduct to ensure they are consistent with the Christian faith.

- Examine whether your beliefs are guided by God's Word rather than personal desires or worldly gain.
- Test whether your actions reflect your profession of faith in Christ.
- Evaluate your lifestyle, habits, and daily choices to see whether they align with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
- Consider how you spend your time, energy, and resources, because these often reveal what you truly love.

For example:

- Do you delight in prayer?
- Do you study and meditate on God's Word?
- Do you enjoy fellowshipping with other believers?
- Are you growing in obedience to Christ?

LAMENTATIONS 3:40
"Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD."

Live each day as though it may be your last, but plan wisely as though you may live for many years.

Make it a daily habit to read, meditate on, and obey the Word of God.

PSALM 1:1–3
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

CONCLUSION

For those who belong to Christ and remain faithful to Him, Judgment Day should not be a day of fear but a day of joy and victory. It will be the day when faithful believers receive their eternal reward.

However, if you have been living carelessly, neglecting your relationship with God, or if you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, today is the day of salvation.

Do not delay your decision, for tomorrow is not promised.

Receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour today, remain faithful to the end, and be prepared to meet your Lord with joy.

PRAYER

My God and my Father, help me to examine my life daily in the light of Your Word. Give me the grace to walk faithfully with You, to live in obedience, and to be ready for the Day of Judgment. Keep me steadfast until the end, that I may receive the crown of life. In Jesus' name. Amen.

WHAT IS YOUR PREPARATION FOR THE JUDGMENT DAY?

WHAT WILL GOD JUDGE?

The Bible teaches that everyone will one day stand before God to give an account of their lives. Therefore, we should live each day with eternity in view.

1) OUR WORKS WILL BE JUDGED

1 CORINTHIANS 3:13–15
"Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

ECCLESIASTES 12:14
"For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."

God will judge not only what we do but also the quality and faithfulness of our works.

2) OUR WORDS WILL BE JUDGED

MATTHEW 12:36–37
"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

Every word we speak matters. Our speech should always glorify God and build others up.

3) OUR THOUGHTS WILL BE JUDGED

MATTHEW 15:19
"For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies."

MATTHEW 5:28
"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."

God sees beyond our outward actions. He also knows the thoughts and intentions of our hearts.

4) OUR SECRETS WILL BE JUDGED

ROMANS 2:16
"In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."

Nothing is hidden from God. Every secret deed and hidden matter will be revealed before Him.

5) OUR MOTIVES WILL BE JUDGED

God judges not only what we do but also why we do it. He looks at the motives behind every action.

GALATIANS 6:7–9
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

Let us therefore live each day in holiness, sincerity, and obedience, remembering that one day we shall all give an account to God.

PRAYER

My God and my Father, help me to live a life that is pleasing in Your sight. Purify my thoughts, words, motives, and actions. Give me the grace to remain faithful until the end, so that I may stand before You without shame on the Day of Judgment. In Jesus' name. Amen.

JOINT RESPONSIBILITY OF HUSBAND AND WIFE FOR HAPPY HOME

FINANCES

1TIMOTHY 5:8"But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

● In the home, the issue of financing should be properly handled by the couple.
●The couple should have reasonable ways of spending their money at least on the basic needs which will bring benefits to the family and not on the selfish wants of a person over the other.
●With my little experience on marriage, as a husband, father, and pastor. I came in contact with couple who hide their income and prosperity from their spouse.
● Some spouse divided their responsibilities with each other. That if the husband pays the children school fees, the wife will pay for the house rent.
● Some have a joint bank account, though this issue breads a lot of controversies as one may spend more than the other.
● Some couple had adopted the system of only husband is the only source of supply,
●My own personal experience on finance in marriage is I and my wife have joint project accounts that is, if we want to do any project, I took it upon myself that it is my responsibility to build house for my family, to buy car, to send our children to school, to provide the basic needs for my family, my wife would contribute whatever she can avoid in her own salary, so that none of us can claim ownership of property acquire or wealth, whether fixed or moveable they are joint family properties.
We are one not two. All our documents including car particulars are registered and titled: Pastor T.O.Ojo and Deaconess D.M.Ojo.
Note: Not Pastor and Deaconess T.O.Ojo anybody can be Deaconess.
● I will not say exactly how you should handle finance in your own family, pray and look for the one suitable for your own family, after consulting with your spouse.

THOSE WHOM GOD HAS JOINED TOGETHER, LET NO FINANCES OR PROPERTIES PUT ASUNDER.

S*X IN MARRIAGE

1CORINTHIANS 7:1-5: Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency."

●God has made numerous statements in His word that describe His purpose for the s*xual aspect of marriage.
● S*x is the process He gave us to multiply a godly heritage. He commanded us to be "fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it" Genesis 1:28
● God designed s*x for our pleasure. In fact, scripture talks significantly more about enjoying the pleasure of s*x in marriage than it does about being fruitful and multiplying.
● Hunger is natural, and physical demand likewise s*x is also a natural requirement of the body.
●For a person to fill hungry is natural and not sin. But if he steals food, then it is sinful. It is something unnatural. Likewise, the consciousness of s*x is natural and is not reckoned as sin. Only if one uses an improper way to satisfy his desire does it befall into sin.
● S*x is the only thing I know you enjoy without a smile.
● The time you are using on s*x is too small. Without it in marriage, there is no marriage.
●S*x in marriage is holy and natural.

HEBREW 13:4 "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

PRAYER

EPHESIANS 6:10–13
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

Prayer is our privilege and the primary means by which we communicate with God.

Prayer is God's appointed way for us to receive mercy and obtain grace.

HEBREWS 4:16
"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

Mercy is what we need, and grace is what we must have. Without God's mercy and grace, all our efforts will ultimately be in vain.

If we desire a happy and healthy home, we must cultivate a close fellowship with Jesus Christ. Husband and wife should spend quality time in prayer, seeking God's guidance, wisdom, strength, and direction for their family.

WHY SHOULD WE PRAY?

- Because the spiritual controls the natural.
- Prayer strengthens our relationship with God and with one another.
- Prayer invites God's presence into our homes.
- Prayer brings peace, unity, wisdom, and divine protection to the family.
- A family that prays together stays together.
- Prayer often succeeds where every other effort fails.
- Prayer brings God's blessings upon the family.
- A prayerless family is a powerless family.

EPHESIANS 6:18
"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints."

The world, the flesh, and the devil constantly seek to attack the family. Therefore, every Christian home must be built upon prayer and the Word of God.

God is always ready to work on behalf of those who call upon Him. Today, He is listening for the voice of prayer from your family.

Will He hear your voice?

I believe He will.

Closing Hymn: RH 532 – "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."

TAKE CARE OF YOUR PARENTS

GALATIANS 6:7"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

● You must be considerate and thoughtful of your spouse parents, knowing fully well that they invested many years and a lot of money in raising your partner and making him/her to be Somebody before you found each other.

● They desire to be treated with dignity and respect. Don’t be rude to them, nor speak negatively about your parents. If you feel they are interfering too much in your marriage, let their son/daughter do the correction.

● Make adequate provisions for your parents on a monthly or weekly basis as convenient for you. Do not allow them to suffer or lack any good thing.

● If you have difficult parents deal with them in love and wisdom, take the matter to God in prayer.

● You can not abandon them for any reason. Don’t sin through your parents.

● There should be equal love for your parents.

Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

JOINT RESPONSIBILITY OF HUSBAND AND WIFE FOR A HAPPY HOME

DON'T ALLOW A THIRD PARTY INTO YOUR HOME

GENESIS 2:24
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

Marriage is a covenant between a husband and a wife. Therefore, both partners must protect their relationship and avoid allowing unnecessary third-party interference in their home.

A third party may be friends, parents, relatives, colleagues, or even children when proper boundaries are not maintained. Everyone has a rightful place, and each person should remain within that position.

Marriage is for mature and responsible adults. Husband and wife should prayerfully make decisions together and not allow anyone else to control or rule their home.

Once you are married, past romantic relationships should remain in the past. Avoid unnecessary communication or emotional attachment with former partners. Remove anything that may create suspicion, jealousy, or unnecessary temptation. Let your commitment and loyalty be to your spouse alone.

Build your home on trust, love, mutual respect, open communication, and God's Word. Seek godly counsel when necessary, but never allow anyone to divide the unity that God has established in your marriage.

MARK 10:9
"What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

May God grant every husband and wife the wisdom and grace to protect their marriage, maintain healthy boundaries, and live together in love, unity, and faithfulness.

JOINT RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HUSBAND AND WIFE FOR A HAPPY HOME

EPHESIANS 5:21
"Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God."

Submission to one another in Christ is a general spiritual principle for building a happy home.

This principle applies first and foremost to the Christian family. Both husband and wife are called to demonstrate humility, gentleness, patience, love, and mutual respect toward each other.

PHILIPPIANS 2:3–4
"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others."

Marriage is a shared responsibility. It becomes enjoyable and fulfilling when both the husband and the wife faithfully play their God-given roles. A successful home is built on cooperation, understanding, sacrifice, and mutual support.

Permit me to use this illustration: A couple embarked on a journey. The husband was lame, and the wife was blind. They needed to cross a river. How could they do it?

The wife carried the husband on her back, while the husband used his eyes to direct her safely across. Together, they accomplished what neither could have done alone.

In the same way, husband and wife complement one another. One is not complete without the other. Each has strengths that help cover the other's weaknesses.

There is a Yoruba proverb that says, "Ẹyẹ kì í fi apá kan fò," which means, "A bird cannot fly with one wing." Likewise, a healthy and happy home can only thrive when both husband and wife work together in love, unity, and the fear of God.

FEAR FIGHTER

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE WIFE FOR A HEALTHY FAMILY

WIVES, LOVE YOUR HUSBANDS (PART TWO)

EPHESIANS 5:22–24, 33
"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord... Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband."

Let us continue our study on the responsibilities of a wife in building a healthy family.

Today, we shall consider two important responsibilities:

1. NOURISH YOUR HUSBAND

To nourish means to care for, support, encourage, and strengthen.

A godly wife is called to support her husband physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. She should be a source of strength, peace, and encouragement, helping him fulfill God's purpose for his life.

Pray for your husband and with him regularly.

Encourage him during difficult times.

Support his God-given vision and responsibilities.

Create an atmosphere of peace and love in the home.

Speak words that build him up rather than tear him down.

2. CHERISH YOUR HUSBAND

To cherish means to value, honour, appreciate, and treat someone as precious.

Your husband should know that he is respected, appreciated, and loved. Never take him for granted. Appreciate his efforts, stand by him in times of joy and difficulty, and let your words and actions reflect genuine love.

PROVERBS 31:12
"She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life."

One of the greatest ways to cherish your husband is by helping him grow spiritually.

Encourage him to remain faithful to God.

Study the Word of God together.

Maintain a family altar where Christ is the Head of your home.

Be an example of godliness to your children.

ECCLESIASTES 4:9
"Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour."

A wife who nourishes and cherishes her husband contributes greatly to a peaceful, healthy, and God-centred home.

PRAYER POINTS

1. My God and my Father, help me to nourish and cherish my husband according to Your will.

2. O Lord, make me a loving, supportive, and wise wife.

3. Give me the grace to encourage my husband and stand with him in every season of life.

4. Let our home be filled with love, peace, unity, and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

5. Thank You, Lord, for hearing and answering my prayers, in Jesus' name. Amen.
