PROF. SHOKUNBI (RTD) AND SIBLINGS DONATES TO UCH.

Prof. Wuraola Shokunbi (RTD) and her siblings donated a 20KVA Solar inverter system to the department of Haematology, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on Friday, 19 of June 2026.

According to Prof. Wuraola Shokunbi, the donation was made in loving memory of their late mother, Chief Racheal Yelola Olaofe, Alaga Women's Guild of St. Andrews Church, Are- Ekiti.

The Chief Medical Director ,Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo appreciated the thoughtfulness and kind gesture of the Shokunbi family. He noted that the donation will contribute significantly to effective health care service delivery in the Haematology department and enhance patient care across UCH.

NOVO NORDISK HAEMOPHILIA FOUNDATION DONATES MEDICAL EQUIPEMENTS TO UCH

The Novo Nordisk Haemophilia Foundation through partnership with the Haemostasis group of the Nigerian Society for Haematology and Blood Transfusion Thrombosis Group (NSHBT) donated medical equipment and reagents to the Haematology department of the University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan .

The Haemostasis group is chaired by Prof. Omodele Awodu, Prof. Wuraola Shokunbi (RTD) and Dr. Peter Ogundeji are members of the Haemostasis group, who facilitated the choice of UCH as one of the beneficiary centres, alongside Six other teaching hospitals in Nigeria.
The equipment will support ongoing research and improve diagnostic testing for coagulation disorders.

The donated items include: (1.) Cold Centrifuge
(2.) -80 freezer coagulometer
(3.) Plasma extractor
(4.)Sealer
(5.) A carton of quadruple blood bag
(6.)A carton of triple blood bag
(7.) Blood bag weighing machine
(8) Installation of two 1.5 HP Air conditioners and renovation of Room 23 designated as coagulation Laboratory
(9.) Supply of training reagents and training of scientists and doctors on coagulation assays
(10). Ten Wheel Chairs
(11). Five crutches.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo expressed appreciation to Nova Nordisk Pharmaceutical company, for their philanthropic gesture. He noted that the donation will enhance effective service delivery within the department and benefit the wider UCH community

NISPET PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO UCH MANAGEMENT

The Nigerian Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (NISPET) paid a courtesy visit to the UCH management at the hospital's boardroom on 19th June, 2026.

The team lead, Prof. Grace Gbotosho, said the purpose of the visit was to intimate the management about the upcoming NISPET conference. She thereafter, solicited the management's continuous support. She said the theme for the 4th NISPET conference, tagged "Pharmacology Beyond Boundaries," will hold from 21st to 26th September 2026 at the University of Ibadan.

Prof. Gbotosho said the conference would involve policymakers, public health scientists, researchers, postgraduate students, and undergraduate students.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, congratulated NISPET for organising the conference to equip students and professionals in pharmacology areas and pledged the management's support for the upcoming event.

UCH MANAGEMENT PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO OYO STATE POLICE COMMAND

The University College Hospital, Ibadan, management under the leadership of Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo paid a courtesy visit to the Oyo State Police Command, Eleyele, Ibadan, Oyo State, on 19th June, 2026.

In his speech, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, said the purpose of the visit was to familiarise, establish, and maintain the existing mutual relationship with the Oyo State Police Command.

The CMD also intimate the Oyo State Police Command about UCH security alertness at our satellite centres in Okuku, Sepeteri, Ijebu-ode and the need to priotize security in those areas.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, Psc, Mni, appreciated the management of UCH for the courtesy visit.

He said UCH has been a good friend and critical partner of the Oyo State Police Command for a long time, and that they would build on this solid foundation. He further commended the UCH management for providing a vehicle for Yemetu Police Station to make their work easier. He added that the role of the police is to provide services, and there is no closing time in police work.
