Stress affects everyone, but how we cope with it matters.

When stress becomes overwhelming, some people turn to substances as a way to escape, relax, or temporarily forget their problems.

What may begin as “just trying to cope” can gradually become dependence.

Using substances to manage stress may provide temporary relief, but it does not address the real issue. In many cases, it can worsen emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing overtime.

Unmanaged stress can increase the risk of:

• alcohol misuse
• drug use
• emotional instability
• unhealthy coping patterns
• addiction

Healthy coping is important Instead of turning to substances.

Learn to:
• talk about your stress
• rest when needed
• seek support
• practice healthy coping strategies
• take care of your mental wellbeing

You deserve healing, not harmful coping habits.

Stress is a normal part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming or constant, it can begin to affect your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.

Sometimes, stress does not always announce itself loudly. It can show up in subtle ways like:
• constant tiredness
• irritability
• difficulty sleeping
• headaches or body tension
• overthinking
• lack of motivation
• emotional exhaustion

Many people keep pushing through stress without paying attention to how deeply it is affecting them.

Ignoring stress does not make it disappear. Your mind and body will eventually respond.

Learning to recognise stress early helps you:
• manage it better
• seek support when needed
• develop healthier coping habits
• protect your mental wellbeing

Pause and check in with yourself today: “How have I really been feeling lately?”

Awareness is the first step toward healthier living.

Having emotions is normal. What matters is how you express them.

Many people either suppress their emotions or express them in harmful ways because they were never taught healthier alternatives.

Healthy emotional expression does not mean reacting impulsively or hurting others. It means learning to communicate your feelings in safe and constructive ways.

Healthy ways to express emotions include:
• talking to someone you trust
• journaling your thoughts
• praying or reflecting
• setting boundaries
• using calming techniques when upset
• seeking professional support when needed

Ignoring emotions does not make them disappear.
Unexpressed emotions often build up and affect mental wellbeing over time.

Your emotions are valid.
Learn to express them, not suppress them.

Emotions are a normal part of being human. Happiness, sadness, anger, fear, frustration, excitement, all emotions carry important information about what we are experiencing.

The problem is not having emotions. The problem is when we ignore them, suppress them, or do not know how to manage them in healthy ways.

Many people were taught to hide how they feel, but unexpressed emotions often show up in other ways:
• stress
• irritability
• emotional outbursts
• withdrawal
• unhealthy coping habits

Learning to understand your emotions helps you:
• respond better
• communicate more effectively
• manage stress in healthier ways
• understand yourself more deeply

Pause and ask yourself today:
“What am I really feeling?”

Awareness is the first step toward emotional wellbeing.

Mental health and substance use are more connected than many people realize.

Sometimes, people turn to alcohol or drugs as a way to cope with:
• stress
• anxiety
• emotional pain
• trauma
• loneliness

What may start as a temporary escape can gradually become dependence.

Substances may numb emotions for a moment, but they do not solve the underlying problem. In many cases, they can worsen mental and emotional struggles over time.

This is why it is important to pay attention not just to the substance use, but also to the emotional pain behind it.

Healing involves:
• support
• healthy coping strategies
• safe conversations
• proper care and treatment when needed

You deserve support, not judgment.
