For some elderly ones, this COVID pandemic has taken a great toil on their social interactions.

Many find it very frurstrating.
Their usual forms of interaction has been suspended e. g neighbourhood meetings, family functions, religious activities, overseas travel for holiday etc.

These activities are the things that have kept many of them going for years inspite of the empty nest syndrome (all the children have left home).

For the younger generation, social media has been a bail out for their social interaction during this pandemic. Unfortunately, many of the elderly ones are not very good at engaging the various social media platforms.

Well, I have also come in contact with some elderly ones who engage these social media platforms pretty well. Interestingly their children or grand children had put them through at some point before the new world of COVID.

I think elderly ones should be encouraged with what I have coined - "social media literacy"....just my thoughts.
