🔥 MARRY YOUR TRIBE, DON'T MARRY CONTRADICTION 🔥
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” — Amos 3:3
One of the biggest mistakes people make in relationships is thinking that love is enough to make marriage work.
It isn't.
You can love someone deeply and still be too different in the things that matter most to build a peaceful marriage.
So before asking:
“Do I love this person?”
Ask:
👉 “Can I build a life with this person?”
👉 “Are we going in the same direction?”
👉 “Can our values coexist without constant conflict?”
WHAT DOES “MARRY YOUR TRIBE” MEAN?
Your tribe is not necessarily someone from your village, ethnic group, social class or profession.
Your tribe is someone whose core values, character, vision and direction are compatible with yours.
You don't need to marry your clone.
You can have different personalities, interests, backgrounds and preferences.
Different is not always dangerous.
But there is a difference between difference and contradiction.
One person values honesty while the other lives by deception.
One values financial responsibility while the other is recklessly irresponsible.
One wants children while the other fundamentally rejects the idea.
One wants healthy communication while the other uses manipulation, intimidation or constant disrespect.
These are not small differences.
They are contradictions that can become battles in marriage.
❤️ LOVE, BUT DON'T LOSE YOUR WISDOM
Don't allow chemistry to silence wisdom.
Attraction can bring two people together; character determines whether they can build together.
Don't marry someone because they make your heart beat faster.
Ask whether they can help build a home where trust, respect, responsibility and peace can grow.
🚨 DON'T MARRY A PROJECT
“After marriage, I will change him.”
“She will become different after the wedding.”
Be careful.
Marriage is not a transformation centre.
People can change, but don't marry an imaginary future version of someone.
Look at their present character, patterns, responsibility and willingness to grow.
Don't marry potential while ignoring reality.
🔍 INVESTIGATE BEFORE YOU INVEST
Before giving someone your heart, take time to know their character.
Watch how they:
Handle anger
Respond to correction
Treat people who cannot benefit them
Handle money
Treat family
Deal with disappointment
Behave when nobody is watching
Character is often revealed under pressure.
Don't investigate only the sweet side. Know the whole person.
⚠️ DON'T MARRY BECAUSE OF PRESSURE
Don't marry because:
“Everyone is getting married.”
Your family is pressuring you.
You fear nobody else will come.
You are afraid of being alone.
You are emotionally attached.
You think age is running out.
A wedding is one day; marriage is a journey.
Don't make a lifetime decision because of temporary pressure.
💡 REMEMBER THIS
Don't marry someone you are constantly trying to change.
Don't marry someone whose values you constantly have to fight.
Don't marry someone you cannot respect.
Don't marry someone simply because you are attracted to them.
Instead:
Marry someone whose values you can live with.
Marry someone whose character you can respect.
Marry someone whose direction you can walk with.
Marry someone willing to grow with you.
❤️ MARRY YOUR TRIBE!
Not necessarily someone who looks like you.
Not necessarily someone from your background.
But someone with whom you can build on a shared foundation of values, character, vision, commitment and understanding.
“Don't marry the person who only gives you butterflies; marry the person with whom you can build a home.”
Love may start the journey, but wisdom determines who you should walk with.
