𝗙𝗠𝗖 𝗝𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗼 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝗴-𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝘅 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀

The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Jalingo today hosted the official flag-off of a free medical and surgical outreach programme across the three Senatorial Districts of Taraba State, as part of activities marking the 58th Birthday Anniversary of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.

The outreach, which commenced on 3rd August 2026, is providing healthcare services to more than 10,000 beneficiaries across designated health facilities in the State, with tertiary-level services being delivered through FMC Jalingo, Federal University Teaching Hospital Wukari, and National Orthopaedic Hospital, Jalingo, alongside selected secondary healthcare facilities. The initiative is aimed at expanding access to essential medical and surgical care for residents across the State.

A major highlight of the occasion was the commissioning of six major legacy projects delivered under the leadership of the Medical Director, Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu. The commissioned projects include:

New Accident and Emergency Complex

New Auditorium

New Intensive Care Unit

New Theatre Complex

New High Dependency Unit

New Kidney Centre

The occasion attracted distinguished guests, including the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate; the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas; Members of the National Assembly; the APC National Deputy Women Leader; the APC North-East Zonal Representative; Medical Directors of Federal Health Institutions across the North-East; Members of the Taraba State Executive Council; Members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, and other dignitaries.

In his welcome address, the Taraba State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bodiya Buma, welcomed the APC National Chairman to Taraba State and expressed appreciation to him for choosing the State as the venue for activities marking his 58th birthday. He also welcomed the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Medical Directors and Chief Medical Directors from sister health institutions, as well as other distinguished guests.

The Commissioner commended the frontline healthcare workers for their dedication and tireless efforts towards ensuring the success of the medical outreach programme.

In her welcome address, the Medical Director of FMC Jalingo, Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu, expressed appreciation to all distinguished guests and participants for honouring the occasion, with special appreciation to the celebrant, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, and other dignitaries.

Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu also appreciated the APC National Chairman for choosing to mark his 58th birthday not only with celebration but through a humanitarian intervention that is providing relief to families and patients who require healthcare services but may face financial challenges in accessing them.

She called on Nigerians and other well-meaning individuals to emulate such acts of support for healthcare and vulnerable members of society, noting that humanitarian gestures that improve the lives of others are worthy of encouragement.

In his remarks, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, expressed appreciation to the celebrant for choosing Taraba State as the venue for his 58th birthday celebration and for using the occasion to touch the lives of vulnerable residents through the free medical outreach.

The Governor welcomed the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, and other distinguished guests to Taraba State, while appreciating all participants for honouring the occasion. He particularly commended the healthcare professionals and frontline workers for their dedication and tireless efforts towards ensuring the success of the outreach and providing care to beneficiaries across the State.

In his speech, the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for the warm reception accorded him in the State and commended the Medical Director for the developmental strides and transformation recorded at FMC Jalingo.

He described the free medical outreach as an intervention aimed at touching lives, restoring hope, and supporting families facing healthcare challenges. He also expressed appreciation to the Taraba State Government for its partnership in extending medical support across the three Senatorial Districts.

Professor Yilwatda further encouraged political leaders and well-meaning Nigerians to support initiatives that improve the lives of vulnerable members of society. He also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support for the medical outreach and commended the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare for his efforts towards advancing the country's health sector.

In his remarks, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, congratulated the celebrant and commended the initiative, emphasizing the importance of interventions that improve access to healthcare and promote the wellbeing of communities.

The Minister also commended the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for his efforts towards improving the wellbeing of the people of Taraba State, particularly in the health sector.

Prof. Pate further commended the Medical Director, Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu, for her effective utilisation of available resources and the remarkable transformation recorded at FMC Jalingo.

In a show of solidarity, the Medical Directors and Chief Medical Directors of sister Federal Health Institutions across the North-East, led by the Coordinating Minister, contributed ₦10 million towards supporting the medical outreach programme.

The event also featured a birthday cake-cutting ceremony in honour of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, as well as a cultural performance by the Taraba State Council for Arts and Culture.

The commissioning of the six projects marks another significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, improve service delivery, and create a more conducive environment for patients, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.

The Management of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Jalingo wishes to inform the general public that, as part of activities marking the 58th Birthday Anniversary of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, a free medical outreach programme, sponsored through his special intervention, is currently ongoing across the three Senatorial Districts of Taraba State.

The outreach, which commenced on 3rd August 2026, is providing specialist tertiary healthcare services through Federal Medical Centre Jalingo, Federal University Teaching Hospital Wukari, and the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Jalingo, while selected General Hospitals across the State are providing secondary and primary healthcare services.

Yesterday, we had the honour of receiving the Accreditation Team from the Faculty of Family Medicine, West African College of Physicians at Federal Medical Centre Jalingo for the re–accreditation of our Family Medicine Residency Training Programme.

The team, led by Prof. Appolos Chidi Ndukuba, is conducting a comprehensive assessment of our Residency Training Programme to ensure it continues to meet the standards required for the training of resident doctors.

During the visit, the accreditation team toured key clinical departments and critical service points across the Centre to assess our facilities, training environment, and service delivery. The team expressed satisfaction with what they observed and commended the Centre's commitment to maintaining quality standards in residency training and healthcare service delivery.

Welcoming the team, our Medical Director, Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to excellence in postgraduate medical education and specialist training. She assured the team of our full cooperation throughout the accreditation exercise and welcomed their observations, recommendations, and professional guidance towards the continuous improvement of our Residency Training Programme.

On this World Hepatitis Day, the Management and Staff of Federal Medical Centre Jalingo join the global community in raising awareness about viral hepatitis, a preventable and treatable disease that continues to affect millions of people worldwide.

Hepatitis often shows no symptoms until serious liver damage has occurred. Early testing, vaccination against Hepatitis B, safe health practices, and timely treatment can save lives and prevent complications such as liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.

A Heartfelt Appreciation to an Anonymous Philanthropist

The Management and Staff of Federal Medical Centre Jalingo express our profound gratitude to a distinguished philanthropist who, at his own request, chose to remain anonymous after generously facilitating the acquisition and installation of an electricity transformer to the Centre following the recent damage to our previous transformer.

This timely intervention came at a critical moment and has restored power supply to the hospital, significantly strengthening our capacity to provide uninterrupted, quality healthcare services to our patients and the people of Taraba State.

Your selfless generosity is a remarkable demonstration of compassion, patriotism, and commitment to the wellbeing of humanity. Although you have chosen not to be publicly identified, your kindness and the impact of your support will remain etched in the hearts of our patients, staff, and the entire hospital community.

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the delivery of comprehensive healthcare services, the Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre Jalingo, Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu, today inaugurated the Partner Coordination Committee for Strengthening HIV Integration into Facility Routine Care.

The Committee is tasked with providing strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight for the integration of HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care into routine healthcare delivery across all clinical departments and service units of the Centre. It will also foster stronger collaboration between the hospital and implementing partners to enhance service delivery, optimize available resources, improve quality of care, and support national HIV control efforts.

As part of the Army Day Celebration Week activities, the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Jalingo, organized a medical outreach in Sunkani, headquarters of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, Taraba State.

The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre Jalingo, Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu, was the Special Guest of Honour at the event and was represented by the Head of Clinical Services, Dr. Suleiman Abubakar Kirim.

The outreach provided free medical consultations, treatment, and other essential healthcare services to members of the community.
