WORLD SICKLE CELL DAY 2025

Today, we at Shumunyang Humanitariain Foundation (SHF) identify with millions of warriors across the globe.
From countless hospital visits to painful crisis that defy explanations, from emotional pain and financial demands; the fight is real. We want to remind every Warrior and every mother raising one, that there is life beyond sickle cell.

📝 These steps by the Nigerian government can save future generations.
1) Make genotype test certificates from government-approved centers compulsory for intending couples.
2) Provide free or subsidized health care for warriors with equipped Sickle Cell Health centers across the country.
3) Fund awareness, research, and community support.

On 30th May 2026, Shumunyang Humanitarian Foundation organized a women and girl child support outreach for residents of Needy Community in Gembu, Sardauna Local Government Area.
‎
‎The day began with a welcome from the community host (Mai Angwa) Mr. Simon Adolph. Miss Yaje Candy Oliver shared the foundation’s mandate. Miss Aisha then led a practical session on personal hygiene, especially for the teenage girls.
‎
‎The team met 50 beneficiaries: 25 teenage girls received sanitary pads, detergents, and soaps to support their health and dignity. 15 elderly women were given detergents and soaps. 10 nursing mothers received diapers and detergents to ease the daily demands of caring for their babies.
‎
‎Mrs. Kibong Stephen [JP] convened the outreach. Mr. Amos Job ( the Host Pastor, MBCN Needy Qtr), and Hon. Stephen Emmanuel were present.
‎
‎For many of the women and girls, it was a reminder that they are seen and remembered. Beneficiaries thanked Shumunyang Humanitarian Foundation for reaching out to them in their community.

‎A Team of Members of the Shumunyang Humanitarian Foundation led by Miss Yaje C.Oliver today donated baby essentials and some toiletries to expectant women at the Antenatal care unit at Primary Health Care Centre, Kofai (kasuwan Bera) A.T.C Jalingo.
‎
‎The team was received by the chief midwife with her team. They were impressed with the gesture and expressed joy calling on other groups to follow suit.
‎Benefeciaries appreciated the team and prayed God bless them.
‎
‎Distribution of the items were made by today's team leader Yaje Candy Oliver with David Oliver, Abednego Baido, and Mannaseh Christopher.

The Shumunyang Humanitarian Foundation on 21st-Jan-2026 visited the maternity unit of the Taraba State Specialist Hospital Jalingo to show gestures of love to the women.
‎
‎The visit was led by the visioner and accompanied by members of the foundation to specially reach out to the pregnant women and demonstrate the act of love and concern to the pregnant women on their antenatal clinic visit.
‎
‎The spokesperson in person of Pst. Johnson Stephen appreciated the management of the hospital and in-charge of the maternity unit for such a privilege given to the team to reach out to the women. He admonished the women to be strong in their 9-month journey, try not to fail to come for their ANC and stay hydrated even in this season.
‎
‎"The foundation is known for its humanitarian delivery to the needy and so came to share some needful items to women at the maternity unit. The items include diapers, and detergents. This is to show our commitment to sustainable humanitarian service delivery" the spokesperson added.
‎
‎Each woman collected the gift and appreciated the team for reaching out to them even in this time of need for many of them. Prayers by the team for all pregnant women and healthcare workers at the hospital were offered, and appreciation done was by the unit in-charge encouraging groups and individuals to follow suit.
