Recovery goes beyond stopping substance use.

At DMA Foundation & Rehabilitation Centre, we take a whole-person approach to rehabilitation addressing both the addiction and the individual.

Our approach includes stabilization, therapeutic work on underlying causes, skill-building, relapse prevention, aftercare, and integrated support for co-occurring mental health concerns, guided by our MCRIFCRM framework.

True recovery is reflected in more than abstinence or reduced substance use. It can mean improved emotional and physical wellbeing, healthier relationships, a renewed sense of purpose and identity, physical wellness, resilience, and continued personal growth.

Recovery is not just about leaving addiction behind; it is about rebuilding a life with dignity, purpose, and hope.

Addiction is a health condition, not a moral failing.

Addiction is a chronic, treatable brain disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, behaves, and responds to their environment. It is not simply a lack of willpower.

At DMA Foundation & Rehabilitation Centre, we recognize that recovery requires more than telling someone to “just stop.” Counseling plays a vital role in helping individuals understand the patterns behind addiction, develop healthier coping skills, address underlying challenges, and build sustainable pathways toward recovery.

Recovery is possible, and compassionate, evidence-based support can make a difference.

We’re in the news, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to keep the conversation going.

DMA Foundation is committed to changing the way we understand and respond to mental health and addiction in Nigeria.

Our work is rooted in a simple belief: people deserve access to compassionate, professional and effective care, without losing their dignity in the process.

We appreciate the media organisations and journalists who have continued to spotlight this work and amplify conversations that matter.

We also acknowledge The 5th Advisory for its strategic communications support in helping shape and amplify these stories across the media.

But beyond the headlines, the work continues.

Mental health support is not just about treatment. It is about creating pathways that help people prevent, recover, rebuild and thrive.

At DMA Foundation, our programmes are built around three key areas:

1. Prevention
Through school campaigns, mental health clubs and community sensitisation, we equip people with the knowledge and tools to recognise challenges early and seek help.

2. Rehabilitation & Reintegration
We support individuals on their journey to rebuild their lives, regain confidence and reconnect meaningfully with their communities.

3. Recovery
Through continued care, counselling and relapse prevention, we help individuals sustain their progress and move forward with hope.

Because everyone deserves a chance to heal, recover and thrive.

Stress is part of life, but using substances to escape it can gradually turn temporary relief into dependence.

If you notice that you need a substance to relax, sleep, function, or feel okay, don’t ignore it. Talk to someone you trust or seek professional support early.

You don’t have to cope alone. Choose support over silence.

👉🏽 Save this post, share it with someone who may need it, and reach out for help when you need it.

Recovery needs support, not surveillance.

Supporting a loved one through recovery means listening without shame, setting healthy boundaries, encouraging professional help, and creating a safe environment for healing.

You don’t have to carry them through recovery. Walk beside them.

Comprehensive Rehabilitation

Because true recovery happens when every aspect of a person’s life is cared for.

Supporting a loved one through recovery takes more than concern. It takes understanding. 🤍

Fear can sometimes turn into monitoring, criticism, or control. But recovery needs dignity, accountability, healthy boundaries, and room to grow.

At DMA Foundation, we believe families need support too. Learning how to communicate without shame, set healthy boundaries, and recognise when professional help is needed can make a real difference.

You don’t have to carry someone through recovery. Walk beside them.

Save this. Share it with someone who may need it.
