I had the distinct honour of engaging in a high-level strategic dialogue with the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, where we explored forward-looking avenues for institutional collaboration between the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Our discussion was anchored on unlocking the transformative power of technology-driven innovation, entrepreneurship development, and structured mentorship—particularly as a rehabilitative and empowerment pathway for EFCC inmates under the laudable initiative of the NBTI Technology Incubation Programme. This engagement, which took place at the iconic Transcorp Hilton Abuja, reaffirmed our shared commitment to harness innovation as a tool for social reformation, productivity, and sustainable reintegration.

I also had the privilege of presenting the strategic vision behind the NBTI NextGen Innovation Challenge 2026, a flagship initiative designed to identify, nurture, and scale high-impact innovations across Nigeria. In doing so, I highlighted the outstanding success of the NextGen Innovation Challenge 2025, which delivered remarkable outcomes, empowered a new generation of innovators, and further strengthened NBTI’s leadership in advancing Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem.

This engagement underscores a resolute commitment to purposeful collaboration—bridging governance, innovation, and social impact—while inspiring confidence in the boundless potential of our nation’s human capital.

*TRIBUTE TO MR. PHILIP EBIOGEH NDIOMU* - *Retiring Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology*

It is with profound respect and heartfelt admiration that we celebrate the remarkable service and dignified exit of Mr. Phillip Ebiogeh Ndiomu from the Federal Civil Service, following his retirement as Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology.

Though his tenure in the Ministry was brief, it was undeniably impactful—defined by clarity of purpose, strength of character, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Mr. Ndiomu distinguished himself as a leader of rare humility, whose approachable nature and genuine warmth fostered a culture of trust, cooperation, and shared purpose. His jovial disposition, combined with a refined sense of humour, brought light into the most demanding of official engagements, making collaboration both productive and enjoyable.

A man of integrity and courage, he demonstrated principled leadership at every turn, making decisions with fairness, wisdom, and foresight. His accommodating spirit and deep sense of care for colleagues and stakeholders alike created an inclusive atmosphere where ideas could flourish and people felt valued. In every sense, he embodied the highest ideals of the public service—selflessness, accountability, and dedication to national development.

At the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), we remain especially grateful for the privilege of working closely with Mr. Ndiomu. Despite the brevity of his stewardship, his performance left an indelible mark. His support, understanding, and strategic insight strengthened our institutional objectives and reinforced our confidence in the Ministry’s leadership. Without hesitation, we regard him as one of the finest Permanent Secretaries we have had the honour to work with.

As he bows out of active service, we celebrate not just the end of a distinguished career, but the beginning of a new chapter filled with promise and fulfillment. We pray that Almighty God grants him good health, enduring peace, and abundant joy in the years ahead. May his home be filled with continued happiness, and may his family be blessed with the rewards of his years of sacrifice and service.

Mr. Ndiomu leaves behind a legacy of excellence, humanity, and quiet strength—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

We wish him every success in his future endeavours and trust that his wisdom and experience will continue to enrich our nation in new and meaningful ways.

With highest regards and warmest wishes,

*Commonwealth Partners NBTI to drive Innovations across Commonwealth 56 Member Nations.*

Meeting with the Commonwealth Representatives today at the Nigeria High Commission London focused on collaboration and partnership for the NBTI–Commonwealth NextGen Innovation Challenge, scheduled to hold in Antigua and Barbuda in November 2026.

One of the biggest success stories of the NextGen Innovation Challenge 2025, an initiative of the National Board for Technology Incubation under the leadership of Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, is the remarkable interest it has generated across the global innovation ecosystem. Most notably, the Commonwealth of Nations has expressed strong interest in replicating the initiative across its 56 member countries, recognizing it as a powerful platform for nurturing young innovators, startups, promoting technology-driven solutions, and strengthening economic collaboration among Commonwealth nations.

This growing interest reflects the impact and credibility the initiative has built within a short time. The move toward broader Commonwealth adoption signals a new phase where innovation, youth empowerment, and cross-border collaboration can be scaled across multiple regions.

For Nigeria, this partnership represents far more than participation in an international program. It is a strategic opportunity to showcase the country’s innovation capacity, creativity, and youthful potential on the global stage. Through this collaboration, Nigeria is positioned not just as a participant but as a driver of ideas and solutions within the Commonwealth innovation ecosystem.

More importantly, it places the National Board for Technology Incubation firmly on the global map as a leading institution championing technology incubation, youth-led innovation, and entrepreneurship. What began as a national initiative has now evolved into a model attracting international recognition and replication.

Present at the meeting are Dr Kazeem Kolawole RAJI, Director General/CEO, National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Representatives of Commonwealth led by Mr Arif Zaman, Angela Thomas, Philippa Martinelli, Commonwealth Investment Network, India Baines, FCDO, Zahra Shah NEXAQUANTA AI Transformation London, Mrs Lucia Radovanovic and Bishakha Mukherjee, Namibia High Commission London, Representative of Lesotho High Commission, London and UKALD Representatives Hon. Tunde Doherty, Mr John Adelola and Mr Tope Omojayogbe among others.
