Since the ovarian reserve shows the number of growing follicles which reflects the capacity of the ovaries to produce eggs.

The test is done by conducting "Antral follicle count" via ultrasound scan and "Anti Mullarian Hormone" – AMH - level via a blood test".
“The Antral follicle count" predicts the ovarian reserve. While Anti Mullarian Hormone is more directly related to the patient’s age; which help show how many potential egg cells a woman has left.
It can be performed any time during the cycle.

NOTE: The chances of the patient to conceive depend on the ovarian reserve and the egg quality.

Women are born with a specific amount of eggs in their ovaries that would last for a lifetime; opposite is the case for men.
Men produces s***m regularly.

Women's eggs are constantly lost at every menstrual cycle till they reach menopause i.e. when the eggs are exhausted.
Hence, ovarian reserve help to show women's fertility potential.
This test result provides information about the relative amount of eggs available at the particular time.

Also, ovarian reserve is reduced with advanced age and starts to diminish quickly from the age of 37, and even faster after 40.”
