Haemophilia is a genetic bleeding disorder in which the blood does not clot properly due to deficiency of certain clotting factors.

Haemophilia is inherited as an X-linked recessive disorder, so it mainly affects males while females are usually carriers leading to bleeding after injury or surgery, easy bruising and spontaneous bleeding into joints and muscles.

Diagnosis
* Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT)
* Prothrombin Time (PT)
* Specific clotting factor assay confirms different types
